Silly question and I should know really but are these for a p35 board such as the Abit Ip35 pro? :o

Whats the easiest way of finding out which version you currently have installed?

Cheers,

SW.

The 9.0.0.1008 is.

Intel® 3 Series Chipsets means P35 and X38 :D

Thanks, told you it was a silly question and I should know but I blame the fact that I have had AMD systems for the last 8 years so ignorant to the Intel world ;)

This is my first ever Intel system - P35. New to it as well but you get used to it. :D

I've owned a AMD 486DX(2?), K6-2 300, K6-2 500?, Athlon 1.2Ghz?, Athlon XP 1800+, Athlon 64 3500+ (twice), Athlon 64 X2 4400+ and now finally an Intel C2D 8400.

ALmost a similar list to mine then. With the major exception I jumped to a Q6600 at the end.

Lots to learn about bios settings and overclocking again.

I had just got to grips with my DFI Lanparty Expert as well.

I am assuming its okay to install these new drivers over the top of the already installed chipset drivers

no p35/x38 intel board is as quirky as the NF4 DFI, if you can tame that you're golden with intel.

I mean I have done this in the past and never had any problems

I was just wondering is it always best to do a fresh install of Windows (Vista 64) when there are new chipset drivers available:)

Intel chipset drivers aren't even really drivers anyhow, as in they are only the inf file so that windows can identify the hardware and use it's own drivers. Intel doesn't provide driver files like other chipset makers, so if all your hardware is detected and working fine I don't see any reason to update the inf drivers on an Intel chipset board. The main reason they release new Inf drivers is when new chipsets are released.
