What happens if I sell the motherboard for upgrade purposes?

Does the licence go "poof" and disappear altogther?

Or is it still tied to that motherboard?

If so, could I not advertise the copy with the motherboard when I sell it and therefore make some profit off the OEM copy by selling it on as a "bundle" with the motherboard?

Can someone clarify this.

Thanks.

Good question, wouldn't mind knowing this as well.

I'd guess somewhere in the licence it says you can't sell it on though.

if your motherboard 'dies' and you have to replace it with a 'similar' model, then you can use the same licence

What about the COA sticker which the licence says must be affixed to the case?

You throw in the side panel aswell haha ;)

No seriously...good question. I guess you can't provide that. Alough I would never attach the sticker to the computer, I would keep the box it comes in without adding it to the pc for safe keeping.

You are required by the EULA to attach the sticker (COA) to the chassis of the computer you are installing. Failure to do so will invalidate your licence.

Ah yes, you'd have to include the case also.

Not true. The clause to attach the COA to the case is part of the System Builder Licence, not the EULA.

To do it the Legal way you have to Kill yourself once you sell the copy off, this leaves us no option but to make the rules up as we go.

You think I am joking but I am not in GD.

When you purchase OEM Windows and install it on your own machine, does that not make you the System Builder in Microsoft's eyes? (not a rhetorical question - I'm genuinely asking)

I "attach" all my COA's to the chassis by using sellotape and an envelope......so is this still validated or not??:)

Excellent. Thanks Burnsy and all! :)

Next question - does this mean I can sell it on the MM like in my first post?

Yes OEM versions only as a bundle with activated mobo, retail versions are fine on their own.

Excellent - I was just about to email you actually.

The board is away on RMA at the moment, i'll be selling it when I get back. :D
