Hi guys,

We've been on NTL / Virgin Media for 2 years now for our telephone and internet, and have had Sky+ TV for 2 years also.

We are thinking of moving to Sky for all 3 packages. I understand this would require getting a BT landline installed. The house used to have a BT line it has been removed at some point, although there is still a cable coming to the house from the telegraph pole.

I've checked and our local exchange is LLU with Sky as one of the providers, and it is at the end of our road, says approx 350 metres.

Is anyone on the Sky Max (up to 16mb) package? How does it fair?

Thanks guys,

Mal

We're thinking of doing the same here, virgin have gone terrible compared to what it used to be like. How do i find out if my exchange is LLU without having a BT phone line/number?

I moved from virgin to sky. On samknows I was 290metres away from exchange. I get the full 16mb speeds with sky. Customer service seems a lot better to, I had a problem were whenever I received an incoming call my net would drop out, sky sent me out a new router and I got it within 2 days of calling them up.

Sky's LLU service isn't too bad (just rebranded easynet/ukonline). o2's LLU service and customer service is better though (rebranded Bethere). Bethere/o2 have one of the best reputations for customer service at the moment (for the price) so you can't really go wrong with them. Also, make sure you sign up for whichever ISP via Quidco - I know for Be you get something like a £50 refund if you go that route.

I went from Virgin cable to Sky Max and get a constant 1.5mbps when downloading, very stable and represents very good value if you ask me.:)

Ooh that's interesting! Did they do this automatically, or was it an incentive to move to them?

Cheers,

Mal

I heard about it so I mentioned it to them when I ordered sky. They then sent me out a letter with a claim form on and I just sent it back with my sky account details and a photocopy of the bt bill to show the charge. This was then credited to my account, took them like 2-3 days after receiving the form back to credit my account.

Ye Sky also told me to call back after 5 days, I called Sky 2 hours after my BT line had been installed and they proceeded with my order there and then was no need to wait.

Sky broadband is filled with crappy limits. Go orange formerly wannadoo. Prolly the best bet.

I wouldn't listen to this lol, orange are awful my friend has them & it is just random disconnections, slow speed, just generally rubbish!

Sky, .BE & o2 are the ones.

What's the latest on traffic shaping and caps etc with Sky?

About to move into a new house at end of the month and hoping to go with Mr Murdoch's service

Indeed orange fail.

A friend got it free with his phone so got the to sort it out at his parents house, it never worked. Then his parents wanted their own BB through BT so he rang up orange to cancel and had this convo:

Him: Cancel BB plz
Orge: Why are you leaving us sir?
Him: Well we want BB here and are going with BT
Orge: What is unsatisfactory about the service?
Him: Well it has never worked, NEVER WORKED, and now we are going with BT.
Orge: Im sorry there will be a disconnection charge as you are terminating the contract early.
Him: No, the contract is 12 months and it is the 18month now, plus it has never worked, cancel it now.
Orge: Errrm *Pause*, Ok sir I will get *** cancellation going.

:D

Be are great have used them for years, O2 seem the same, having UK support and cheaper. Sky don't have experience with.
