Far Cry 2 Hands-on Preview

pity they don't mention anything about what hardware they were running it on, and the performance of the engine on said hardware..

Hoping more than anything in the world that it has lower requirements than crysis!

It will run better than crysis. It runs on consoles for a start, and secondly it is inferior graphically.
 
wouldnt say the graphics were that must worse personally, if anything they are better in certain area's. but by the looks of things its a lot more optimized and so i dont see this game as big as computer killer as crysis

nevertheless i cant wait for this game its gonna be awesome!

And how exactly can you say its inferious from the Screens and Movies we have seen so far ? (none of which ever show a game in its true colours). :confused:

Crysis was not that Uber good looking, some parts were nice others were not so nice.

We've seen playable demo videos of the game, so I'm sure we've seen it in its "true colours".

And Crysis was "Uber good looking" and there hasn't been a game released since that looks anywhere near as good.

Poor story is understandable, "repetitive" is understandable (if you apply it to similar games too), but saying it wasn't an absolutely amazing looking game is completely and utterly incorrect. It's that simple I'm afraid.

Obligatory on-topic comment: That said I'm looking forward to Far Cry 2. :D
 
Well I reckon it will need a hefty machine to run especially at high res but the new graphics cards will be out by the time this is, so not a problem.

If you have moving grass blowing in the wind with realistic flames and smoke burning a course in the direction the wind blows leaving charred remains behind, ammunition exploding, everything destroyable, ai units running around, shooting etc and people think it's going to play well on a 8600gs at 1900 x 1200 then they need a reality check.

I'm looking forward to this.A lot.

Crysis was not great looking in all parts IMO and in many others here (feel free to search through postings), thats got nothing to do with your opinion which is yours freely to promote.

Others opinions are not "incorrect", just not the same as yours.

A game movie be it a Cinematic or a Video of gameplay still never looks like the game on your own PC screen

I have slated game by going by the Screen and Movies and grabbed a later Demo and it looked sweet.

Until there is a Demo of this game, nobody here really knows what it looks like.


This thread I posted because I though some would be interested is about Farcry 2 BTW, not Crysis, which seems now dead in the water with no more support (in another thread I posted).

How can a direct capture of a screen, while someone is playing the game not look the same? It's a direct capture.

And Crysis might of had some rough areas, that doesn't mean it wasn't an uber looking game. The bad parts in Crysis are still 10x better than most other games on the market.

From all the videos and screens of far cry 2 I've seen I think I can say with some certainty that the game's graphics are not as good as crysis.

Well, I'd like to see you name a better looking game if you're so sure it doesn't look "uber". :confused:

This thread is about Far Cry 2 but you just baited Crysis fans, promoting more off-topic and trashing your own thread. And yeah, Crysis must be dead in the water, it's sequel is already coming out. :D

I only asked why he could come up with that conclusion.

You want to open a Crysis thread and talk it about it till you blue in the face, be my guest I wont be psoting in it.

I just felt like pointing out how you're trashing your own thread by talking about Crysis and baiting Crysis fans with your comments, which makes calling me a troll a bit hypocritial.

In fact, you're only doing it so you can say "this is my thread troll!" and look like the good guy. :)

But yes, I am going to stop taking this off-topic. I'm still looking forward to Far Cry 2.

You went on the defensive when someone compared Far Cry 2 to Crysis and took part in the discussion that took your own thread off-topic, then you made comments about Crysis graphics and about it being "dead in the water" (lol) just to bait Crysis fans. Just saying how you basically trolled your own thread is all.

Maybe it should be locked if you can't control yourself when Crysis is mentioned, especially in your own thread.
