Well i decided to try out the national lottery website, was going to be my first Saturday ticket i will have ever brought. Then i saw the instant win games :o well that was £5 down the drain :( So not only did i not win anything, but i also still haven't played the lottery! I've closed my account for the better i think!

'National lottery'. Did you really think you had a chance of winning on one of those odd little games they advertise to distract you when en route to buying a lotto ticket?

Proper gambling is not evil at all.
As Morba said it is self control that is the real evil.

Well on one of the games i won £2 that sort of speared me on to playing more :p Also because i couldn't buy a ticket at that moment in time due to the Wednesday draw.

Can i have a poll please

Do you play the lottery?
Yes
No

Discus the poll question for a while before i a mod reads this.

with the scratch cards you should play the ones with the lowest maximum prize. higher chances of winning prizes. Read the back of the ticket and it tells you the probability

Gambling, unfortunately, is a tax on the stupid... the more stupid you are, the more tax you pay....

you gamble every time you do anything, like walk across a road, or buy a pint of milk, just those things the odds are more in your favour.

I remember this thing where you could bet on some dice on mecca bingo..

using the bonus money you got on signup, you could basically guarantee to get a few quid free..

I won the few quid, champion...

then i decided to play that few quid...

plus my own 10 quid..

then another 10 quid

20 odd quid down the pan in a few minutes from my own lack of self control haha

Gambing is great, unless you gamble on things left to complete chance when the odds are against you. Gambling on things like sports, poker etc. are fun.

The only evil here is the gambling monster that has enslaved you! I call him Gamblor !!!

meh..... weak self control is weak !

my uncle is a "professional gambler", don't know how, but has a nice house and car and has a family like. don't quite understand it tbh

gambling is not evil.
no self control is evil ;]
True.

Gambling, unfortunately, is a tax on the stupid... the more stupid you are, the more tax you pay....
Sorry, but that's BS. If you were to say that about the lottery (or indeed any game of chance), then I would have accepted your point (although even then there's the odd exception). Gambling in general, no. The trick is either having sufficient skill to genuinely tip the odds in your favour (e.g. Poker), or know how to bag yourself a guaranteed profit.

One example - a company had a promotion where they give players £15 if they bet £5 on a lottery. So that's £10 profit regardless of the outcome. The intention of course is that you stick with them, but nowhere in the rules does it say you have to. Works for me. :)
