That is odd that the 8800GT is faster than 9600GT, a lot of comon sense in the developers head of the 9600, so all Geforce 9x cards are slower then the Geforce 8x cards.![]()

even in SLI your fps will be better. Though it must be said, the 9600GT scales extremely well in SLI
however, I think that if you use 8800GT's in SLi with the 175+ nvidia drivers, you'll see the same performance as I'm sure nvidia have now updated SLI performance for 8 series cards? Can't remember where I seen it thoughThe first number is just a new generation, it doesn't mean it'll be faster, a new mid range card will NEVER BE faster than the previous gen high end card.
It's usually the second number that denotes its actual performance. 9600GT takes over from 8600GT and is not meant to beat the 8800 series in any way.
