Its true, proposals being considered by the EU will make it mandatory for all car and vehicle adverts to carry CO2 emissions data in the form of a traffic lights system. The advertising industry is not too happy about it apparantly as they reckon it will impact their bottom line.

Sounds like a reasonable idea to me.

Sounds good to me :)

Ideally, all vehicle adverts should include all of
  • Genuine MPG figures
  • Euro NCAP safety rating details
  • Emissions data
  • Exterior dimensions
BHP, Speed and acceleration data should be banned from vehicle adverts - way to go!

That is stupid. If your buying a car you should really do you research first, if emmisions is something that concerns you then you go to google and see. If emmisions is not something that concerns you then having a traffic light waved in your face is going to do nothing

dont mind..I would like to see all that information as well as performance figures

(liek most people on here we would probably look at all this stuff beforehand..but there will be people out there who choose a car much like choosing a toaster)

I am sure that people buy cars for all sorts of reasons and impulse buying is probably one of them. I doubt it will stop the hardended petrol head but it might make a few people stop and think a bit maybe.

Buying a toaster is not an impulse buy, it must be carefully considered and all options weighed!

this is quite true...mine doesnt even have a spring...its all electrical, not a lever in sight!..it glides down at the press of a button, toasts then glides upwards..no noisy popping up for me..and it has soft blue LED's the sign of a quality toaster!

if it played the thunderbirds theme as the toast appeared slowly upwards I would just sit and eat toast all day!

it took me ages to decide to get it (when I say this I actually mean it took me ages to convince my wife that this was the toaster that would make our lives better than a 5 quid one from tescos)

Given that most car adverts are for a range of cars, with a range of engines, how exactly is this going to work? They'll just use the traffic light for the "cleanest" of the cars
