That's great that there's finally some stock being delivered. I hope this will lead to some more reviews and user-made pictures. However, here's a conundrum for you.

While I'm tempted by the stylishness of BenQ panel, it's still a TN one and this leads to some flaws. It also lacks some inputs that I may not desire at this time but the ones that may come in useful at some point. So fighting out of the Dell corner we have 2408WFP and fighting out of the BenQ corner we have V2400W.

Considering I can afford either of those right now and in 4 months time, when I'll actually be getting either of those 2, it's an interesting bout with both competitors having their strengths and weaknesses. Who do you think will end up getting his teeth knocked out? :D

The only thing with the Dell, and tell me if I'm wrong, but the inital batches all seem to have... not problems, but issues. i.e colour banding, etc and it always seems to take them a few revisions (i.e. A00 -> A03) to sort it out.

Not sure if this is the case with the latest Dell, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it still had issues. I'll gladly post up pics in a new thread when the BenQ arrives. :)
 
Yes, I have read about people having those issues and that's my top and only concern about the Dell monitor. I shall seek further info about these "issues" in the thread that has been dedicated to that monitor and will gladly await your pictures.
 
Here's some video of the monitor from cebit 2008, it's in french, but you get to see it.. showing the viewing angle quality, looks worse because of the video compression, but, as you can see it is no problem when facing the screen from straight on/middle.

According to the word on Dell's forums, there's a firmware update that's due around mid-July. If that one, when applied, will get 2 thumbs up from people in terms of problems (banding and input lag) being solved then Dell it is. If not then BenQ it is :)
 
Did anyone get one of these yet? Firegod? did OC send one out today? I bet they didn't.

There's a competitor with 2 in stock for a high sum of around £340, which I won't pay.

I'm not going to pay silly money for this monitor, I might wait until plenty of stock fills stores, and see what happens to the price - I'd prefer to pay less than £300. For now I think I can stick with my 19" samsung.

I would get the G2400W, but it doesn't match my P180, and it has a green light (I prefer some silver on hardware and blue light if any). Call me fussy but looks can be important :D

Thinking about the FP241W because of what it offers for around £100 more than the V2400W, but I'm really worried about so called input lag while gaming. I understand the FP241W is better than the Dell models regarding input lag.

No it hasn't been dispatched. :mad: I'm quite annoyed by this, not because it's pre-order no, that's fair enough. But to be actually told "yes it'll be dispatched tuesday" and then nothing... is very poor. I feel let down!

I've sent another webnote asking what is going on with my order. We'll see what the next reply is.....

ARGH! So now the reply was, "it was delayed because it wasn't delivered from the supplier". That's not what I wanted to know!!!! I want a date please, how hard can that be??? :mad:

Sent another webnote. This is ridiculous, I don't want to be hanging around for ages! If that's the case I'll cancel it and buy it when in stock.
 
And I think that buying (or not) a monitor on looks alone is daft and shallow.

Let's just hope that Firegod will get it shipped this week or he will show why he's firegod :D

Lol. Well I had a missed delivery today, so it's being collected tomorrow for me. So it's either this (but I seriously doubt it) OR guitar hero 3. haha. :p

Firegod, is it time for another webnote to OcUK? The way things are shaping up I have a gut feeling that people won't get theirs until Dell comes up with firmware update for their 2408 in a month. OcUK, as usual, is welcome to prove me wrong though...:p

It is indeed time. I'll be sending another tomorrow evening, as obviously the weekends don't count. So I'll check Monday after work to see if I've had a "dispatch" email or the likes. But if not, I'll be sending them another one.
