I was checking over the fluids just before and noticed oil in my header tank. I know before i had the car it had HGF and the HG was changed. Now the oil and water level is fine. It hasn't changed since i last checked. So im thinking that the oil has just surfaced to the top from the channels etc in the block and radiator.

Before i jump to conclusion do you think it would be best to I've it a coolant flush and see how it goes?

When you say you noticed oil in the header tank - what exactly did you see?

Well there is a layer on oil in the header tank. But when i turn the engine on and let it run. Its just coolant that is being passed through.

do you use just water in there or proper coolant?

Proper coolant mate.

if It has been changed before and not properly skimmed and seated (my friend against my advice didnt have the head skimmed properly and it ended up failing 3 weeks later, he let it run dry which i cant understand and buggered it) it may be leaking slightly, just keep an eye on both levels and you should be ok

You think it'll be worth it using coolant flush. And seeing how it goes from then?

Well if you do that at least you can tell for sure whether any more oil is leaking into the coolant, wont cost much either so cant hurt.
