lane swimming etiquette

next time you go use one of these, you should get your own lane.

oh and beware of the speedo brigade (we call them speedophiles lmfao)

these guys will turn up and spend half their time doing stretches at poolside, then do 2 lengths uber quick followed by more stretches and talking with m8s. they also have floats of all shapes and drinks etc etc... you don't need to do stretches, just start off slow and build up over a couple of lengths.

swim SHORTS not speedos!!!!!

tbh, swim shorts will rub hell outta ya legs if doing breast stroke, but I'd prefer sore legs than being a speedophile anyday

The Speedo Brigade are the equivelant of 50 year old BMW drivers on the roads. Every time I go swimming I always see this stereotype being played out to certain lengths.

I always swim first thing as pool's are pretty unhygenic by end of day...

top tip also is always rince ya ears out in shower several times after swim, stops ear infections

I dunno what kind of filtration your pool has?
As long as it has sufficient chlorination ear infections shouldn't be a problem

you'd be surprised, there will be floating stuff in there, small particles yet to be filtered. If one gets in your ear and sits there for some time you can pickup infections. I know a lot of people who had them... me including.

our pool is ultra violet treatment, though has a little chlorine in also, maybe thats why it's a little worse in this respect to a 100% chlorine pool

Serious answer: swim in the direction indicated, be mindful that others are in the lane but don't compromise your session for them. If you wish to pass someone a SINGLE tap on the heal should be enough - if they take offense they're the tool, not you! ;) If someone taps you, at the end of the length stay to the side you were swimming on to allow them to easily pass on the other.

GD answer: Punch anyone within range in the ovaries, you need to dominate that pool with alpha-ness! Killing with fire is not an option in water :p

Wuss!! :p For 5 years straight I used to swim (and play waterpolo) 10-14 times a week. Not once did I have an eye, ear or any other orifice based infection. I'd been to some of the best and worst pools this country has to offer so plenty of opportunity to catch bugs. Only thing i ever got was 1 verruca and that was a tiny one on the end of my toe.

Speedos (and waterpolo rubbers) for the win!! ;) :D

Yea, except when younger i burst my ear drum in the pool, they had to close it because of the gunk and blood comming out ohhhhh was fun

It is normal etiquette to punch each person you pass in the face.

when you see someone catching up dive dive dive and let them pass over you. when you resurface shout out quotes from das boot
