Under-rated bands...

I saw them once at the Astoria, last year I think. They had the audience going nuts. It's not really my kind of music, but I don't think I've ever seen the Astoria so alive.

I met a woman from a large label afterwards and we seemed to instantly hate each other but got stuck at a table together. It was very awkward.

Disturbed are far more popular than they should be.

Weird, everyone round here is like 'dis who?'. Me and my mates request a disturbed song every week at this metal bar and when it comes on we go nuts, and the rest of the dance floor is like 'wtf is this?'. hmm

I'm going to throw Maximo Park into the mix for a "mainstream" band that don't seem to get much praise but have released two stonking albums and are extremely entertaining live. :)

if Disturbed came on at a bar I was at, I'd be like "wtf is this!?"

The Super Furry Animals/Gruff Rhys is very underrated imo. They have made some absolutely suberb stuff.

Beck
The Roots
Crystal Method

"Critically" Beck is absolutely lauded upon (and rightfully so). I'd say you're probably right that he hasn't been as successful commercially as he deserves to be.

pelican
beecher

Pelican would probably be better rated if their last album wasn't such a piece of ****

Beecher split a while ago, otherwise they'd probably have been pretty big :)

I feel for you. Disturbed a band who are truly, unforgivably dire. Quite how they are as big as they are will forever remain a mystery to me. Especially since Nu metal is dead now.
