BBC news and poor grammar

i always thought it was correct to put a starting " when there was a new line in the speech.

If one person's speech goes on for more than one paragraph, use quotation marks to open the speech and at the beginning--but not the end--of each new paragraph in the speech. To close the speech, use quotation marks at the end of the final paragraph.

This makes me laugh actually, you called them muppets for not being able to use inverted commas, but you can't use them. So you must be a muppet!!

Really? Not something I've seen before. If thats true then I guess I deserve one of those FAIL boat pics or something :p

Oh well seems I was wrong, should have known there was a reason I could only manage a C grade at English GCSE. Yep, I officially fail at English. No doubt i'll get a ribbing for this.

Even better was that what he thought was wrong was actually punctuation and not grammar...
 
Why did you think you were right in the first place? You can't state a point without knowing something is correct as a matter of fact, can you?
