Road Tax Petitions

You know the site admin are laughing at us, all we do is sign something digitally and think we are doing good because it can bring about change.

In reality it just gives us an easier means of showing concern while still paying excessive amounts.

Has any of these petitions ever worked?

Nope.

Remember the road charging one? almost 2 million signatures on that. They were like, "good effort" *into the bin*.

E Petitions are about as effective as farting into the air in an attempt to move the earth further from the sun!

Why they ever even bothered with them is beyond me.

Has there *ever* been a successful e-petition? Does anyone have any evidence of one where the government didn't just ignore it and say "we know better, so tough luck"

Remember the road charging one? almost 2 million signatures on that. They were like, "good effort" *into the bin*.

Because it was a bad joke. "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Scrap the planned vehicle tracking and road pricing policy". The response was "There isn't one."

Not that e-petitions are much use anyway, but the fact that 3/5 of the biggest ones ever were based on wrong information or outright lies (this one, the mega mosque one and the red arrows one) devalue them even further. If that's possible. It just proves 1.8 million people will sign their name to anything.

But there's quite a few where there's been decisions made which go in line with the petition demands. You just can't say for sure if the petition has had any effect. The Grey's Lane one (for an armed forces family support centre that was getting nimby'd) might have had an effect, or the council might have unilaterally u-turned without it, hard to say...
