US man badly injured and left in road

Probably. 'I didn't like his manner, here's a lawsuit' Wouldn't put it past America.

Seriously though, i guess most Americans are just trained to keep their noses out when stuff like this happens for fear of being sued, you cant be sued if you stand over 3 foot away can you?

You don't even have to move off the pavement to dial for an ambulance, those people were just ignorant. Only reason they might not have called for anyone maybe the guy who ran him over was a local perp and they were scared if he thought they had fingered him for the hit and run, my best guess judging by the way the man on the film with cap and glasses says people dont get involved bad things happen ect ect.

Hahah yeah ive seen loads of people fall over in town (including myself :() And everyone goes rushing over to them or atleast asks if their ok.

lmao, reminded me of another time in town when some chav jumped a chain link fence around the edge of market and just slammed down onto the cobbles. his mates nearly died in from laughter.

back on subject, i too remember hearing about that person being sued despite saving their life. why work for money when you can legally take it out of someone else's pocket in the US ?

You lot know absolutly nothing about America. This case is not common. How do I know? Because my dad has personally helped in three accidents along with my brother and other drivers.

As for suing? Another BS rumor that gets spread around on the internet. "I heard this and I heard that"

One incident of people not helping for a short while and suddenyl America is filled with the uncaring. Do you ever stop to think about what your saying? Its like talking with children. I expect children not to be able to think for themselves but not grown adults.

Also, let not forget that that very small fraction of the US population that are shown in the video don't exactly represent the entire US population. Isnt this fact obvious to any of you people?

Doesn't suprise me, my Dad was in a car accident versus a lorry, the car was upside-down. Actually I lie, i think one person stopped, he didn't see the accident happen though.

I think it is to most people, but there are some on here that like to jump on America when news stories like this come up. I think its somewhat hypocritical in particular for people to call Americans litigatious when our tv is filled with adverts trying to convince people to sue others for accidents.

The phrase I particularly hate which always gets used on here is "only in america", although to my pleasant surprise, no one has actually used it yet in this thread.

I think people should bare this in mind in general with all these stories, particular with the geographical size and the population of the US. If you think of how drastically people differ in different regions of the UK and then consider how much larger the US is, it makes generalisations based on a single incident likely to be very inaccurate.

Witnessed a similar thing happen in Bristol about a week ago. A young female driver pulled out in front of a girl on a scooter and knocked her off on a busy street, wrote of the scooter by the look of it. The girl who got knocked off was just stood bent over in the middle of the road with cuts on her face and the scooter was next to her with bits hanging off of it. Not a single car stopped to see what was going on apart from the car I was in with a mate of mine, some drivers were even beeping their horns to get her out of the middle of the road, most people just had a good look and drove around the incident.

only in America eh

i`m suprised the thick overweight self loving general public are not suing the poor guy for causing them distress!

*dont shoot me this is tongue in cheek

You lot are utter pillocks at times.

Several states have a good samaritan law whereby if you stop to help someone, they cannot sue you no matter what happens.

"Several states"?

How many and which ones? Your post is a bit vague and is unlikely to make anyone stop for an accident without knowing where it is 'safe' to do so.

I'm going to ask them why it was removed, so many times I have seen them doing this on their website and is yet another reason why I will not get a tv licence.

The fact some states need to do that shows were not the pillocks tbh.

seen plenty of people not help for similar things here in the UK, but people in the UK love to look down on the "stupid americans". To be fair, most countries have similar views of other countries, oh, thats so bad, that wouldn't happen over here. Jesus, some of the cases going to trial here in the UK make me ashamed of how pathetic they are, and just the same America has the same kind of people looking for money. An objective person could see it happens in both countries, the litigious nature and the apathy to accidents.

People are very judgemental on who and how they'd help. I've seen a kid, years and years ago, i was probably 13-14, a kid who looked maybe 10 came flying out of a park on his mates bike, turned out his mates breaks weren't working but didn't tell the other kid before he tried it out not expecting him to go out the park, came screaming out, almost hit me, straight into traffic, bang. Kid, EVERYONE stopped and tried to help, hell this was pre-mobile phone years so a dozen people all ran to the shops to get help.

I've seen a motorbike get smacked by a car, the guy went flying but didn't get really hurt, but basically no one gave a crap. People simply thought, meh, motorcycle, what do you expect...idiot and walked on.

To a certain degree when theres a crime theres an added reason to not run over, you don't really want to get dragged into it and everyone would assume someone else would call for help, which most likely someone obviously did. Some guy just off screen yells, i'm calling an ambulance, no one else needs bother. Plus, old guy, smacked hard, you really want to watch someone die up close, its not great.

I can see not wanting to get involved, but I would if no one else bothered and would be pretty disgusted with those that just walked past when no one was helping. But this isn't representitive of every situation in the states and those that say anything like it is, are just being ridiculous.

Where do some of you people live? I've never seen an accident where people in the uk ignore it, unless there's loads of people already helping out.
Even comatose drunk people get people helping them.

Hope this satisfy your needs, oh Great British one.
