Nissan GT-R

such a long wait, why didn't you just import one privately? You'd probably be on the road by now.

Warranty. Proper servicing and support. Recalls. Residuals. Evolution (the R35 is being tweaked, JDM don't have the UK-spec new mounts, diff settings and whatever else we might get in the coming months). Hassle. No Datsun invite to Silverstone and the 'Ring;)

In the scheme of things, it's not much of a wait to me.

That is the vid ive seen before. If that is indeed the way in which they time laps (not sure why they would miss out that small section of track) then I retract my previous comment.

That video just became available in the last few days. Anybody interested in the GT-R and the 7:29 lap vs. 7:38 lap has been chomping at the bit to see that so I would love to know where you saw it, hence why we are watching it on a video of a video.

The 7:38 lap has the exact same view, so I don't want to be rude but perhaps you have the two crossed over?

They miss out the small straight for entry/exit safety reasons. It's the way you get "official" timed laps, unless you are a Corvette owner. You don't usually get a full in-car lap anyway, Porsche etc like to do some fancy editing.

I'm kidding. Maybe.

Why is it soo hard to believe that it is a standard car they used.

If I'm wrong then I will eat my keyboard :D

@ Fett: You *** * * **** ****, Can I have a ride ? :D:D

Sensible attitude. A year isn't *that* long to wait in the grand scheme of things and it looks like you have plenty of toys to keep you pre-occupied, plus a UK car would probably resell for more than you bought it for in the early months if you changed your mind.

Why didn't you just buy one of them Playstation games, you could have been in it now! ;)

Well done, I suspect you will have a serious weapon when it arrives and hopefully something that should not hurt your pocket to much when you decide to get the to replace it GT3 :p

Cheers. Perhaps we could race around the 'ring for slips, I'd even sellotape my eyes up at each corner for maximum authenticity, promising no L1, R1, Up, X, R2 , R2 malarkey.

Would save me having to actually shell out for a GT3:D

I wish you had been a long a month ago when I got absolutely slaughtered for merely saying that I thought the GT-R is overhyped. I still think that is the case, and there is no way in hell it would beat a 997 GT2 round a track. Please quote this, save this, and repeat it back to me in several months time when independent reviewers have actually done fair, cheat free comparisons.

It is fast, yes. Amazing value, yes. Boy racerish, yes. It's still cheap and Japanese and lacks any sort of style. My opinion. The GT2 on the other hand goes like hell, looks stunning, costs a bomb (which is a GOOD thing for any self-respecting supercar producer) and eats children for breakfast.

To the vid above. Exactly. If it can't beat a Ford GT, then what chance does it have against a GT2. A rapist on crack supercar designed for the track?

Stating "it's boy racerish" and that it "lacks any sort of style" as if it is fact makes you look at best biased and at worst a badge whore - which is it?

ROFLMAO that vid, surely a track like that with huge long straights would be where the sleek very torquey and powerful Ford GT would excel? Gonna guess on a proper track not a flat piece of tarmac the GT-R may excel, although still nice to see some comparisons going on.

Both, I've never been a fan of Nissans. I still think the design is horrible, it looks nice from the front but the rear is disgusting.

i think it is obvious that the GT-R and previous incarnations of skyline have been aimed at the playstation generation. the r34 probably being the main culprit, being every barry'd up corsa owners wet dream, but the new GT-R definitely suffers a degree of the same affliction

Other way round; front is horrid, rear is good, modernising the skyline style.

0.1 seconds on a 1.8 mile track. Read above. That's a blink of an eye.

As to your other points, I'll address them tomorrow. Suffice to say I am utterly over the moon a lowly chav (Jesus, I hate that word) Jap heap GT-R is being compared/raced to a very rare mid-engined absolute monster.
