Hi,

Been into photography for just over a year now. Likewise, I've been signed up to Flickr for just over a year.

I'm now thinking about signing up to DeviantArt, but...is it a waste of my time? I'm not serious photographer by any means but I do take a half decent photo now and again.

Trouble is I see DeviantArt as a place where you never, ever see a rubbish photo!

What do you reckon?

You've clearly never been on my account :p

I'd say it's worth having one, doesn't take long to update pics and if you're particularly good you can always sell prints on there.

I love Deviantart. I use it to host my images, but its also a great place for inspiration etc. Its actually one of the few sites I pay a subscription for. As for rubbish work, yup there is loads on there, but there is still a decent bit of talent as well.

I see some amazing stuff on DA. Also, the important thing to remember about rubbish work on DA is that you can see the person improve. Watching the journey from rubbish to awesome is great for begginners like me. Gives me inspiration :)

Yea some really good photos on there and some right tripe (like Raikiri's :p).

Admitidely Mrk has some good stuff on his profile, just do it and we'll judge :p

I like that...I shall sign up!

Thanks guys for your input.

Hmmm....I'm a flickr addict but never looked into this DeviantArt. Will have to investigate. Looks interesting with the Blog element to it.

That's kind of why I signed up, I upload what I think is my best photos from a set, so I hope in a year or 2 I'll be able to see the progress I've made. I know flickr can be used for a similar purpose, but it's limited to 200 photos for free accounts :(

its worth having a DeviantArt account, they're okay but dA has become full of emo-tards who basically sketch anime on lined paper, scan it, submit it and reep the "lol dis is mint luvv ya!" comments

if you stay away from that area they're good to have.

and for blatent plugging of my own account *cough*

deviantart was great. I dunno its lost its community a little latey. prob due to flicr.

Either way its somewhere you should at least have a free account for. Ive been a paying member for years but its now run out n I am not using it for the moment but I will be returning to it soon.

Well, I've signed up. Will link to it in my sig at a later date.

The second image I've uploaded isn't showing on my frontpage at the moment though, which is a bit weird.

I have been on there for three years now, and I have just been doing some spring cleaning of my account. It has a handy storage function on it so you can get your pictures off the public part of the site but not actually delete them, just been wading through those today, and saw some of the rubbish which I have uploaded in the past, but yet there were still some nice comments on there.

There's an overwhelming amount of animé on there (though some are quite good), but nevertheless I still use it since there's some great art behind all the rubbish.

You just click "watch this deviant" on the top right of their profile - you can then edit what updates you receive from them. Click my sig to see mine. :)

cheers for your friends requests and welcomes lads :)

i shall take a look through your galleries a little later today...as it's actually nice where i live today, i'm off out with my camera :D

edit: just added raikiri and jotun to my friends list and updated my sig :)
