Hotel deals?

Hi guys,

Anyone know the best place to get good deals on Hotels? Looking to book a stay in Bath or Bristol towards the end of the month, after a contemporary sort of place with secure parking. Other than Lastminute.com and Laterooms I'm not really sure where to look, laterooms seemed to be a bit full of one-man-band B&B type operations.

Any ideas?

I'm generally fine with LateRooms, though I do have a good look at a place before booking through them.

If not on business I generally book direct.

I've used Lastminute.com a few times before and it's always been cheaper than booking direct (Infact I've stayed at places who, direct, quote £150 a night for less than £70 before now) but there just doesn't seem to much on there at the moment.

I usually go to the hotels own sites.
So pick out a few that you want to stay at and then visit all the usual ^^ places to see how the price stack up.
Nothing wrong with calling up the place and saying: "I saw your rooms on Lastminute.com for *knock £40 off" ;)

--Edit: also check on the save you money sites for vouchers ;).

Hotel Du Vin in bristol is very nice, sometimes you can get that for a hundred quid but well worth it, especially if with a lady, i've also had a couple of good deals at the Marriott Royal too, just make sure you book the room for one and trawl through the offer codes on their site and it can be had for seventy quid sometimes. Otherwise there's a couple of nice country house type places around bath, the Macdonald Bath Spa for example. Re parking, 5-10 is normal, 15 seems a bit steep.

Is it standard for hotels to charge up to £15 for carparking for 24 hours

I don't think it's uncommon if they are in a city centre where parking is at a premium. Sometimes if a hotel will say they have parking, but they actually mean they're next to an NCP or similar. The last time that happened to me though, the hotel quoted the full NCP price but they were able to validate the ticket and get it a little cheaper.

I had a bad experience with Laterooms.com so I wont recommend them, although I might have been unlucky, but when you arrive at the hotel at 7pm and they have no record of you arriving its kind of frustrating and off putting especially when they are full as well!

Im looking for a hotel in the Brands Hatch/Dartford area for the end of August myself so Id be interested in what this thread offers up.

As you know, i stay in loads of hotels. Laterooms lists virtually everything? Its certainly thr best "discount" hotel booking system. You have already covered the bases really.

In addition go through the mainstream websites, if its weekend there are often discounts available.

Laterooms - The best for last minute type stuff ;)
Tripadvisor for reviews
The usual suspects (hotels.com, octopustravel, expedia)

other overlooked ones are

Holiday Inn
accorhotels.com

No, somewhere reasonably nice to take the girlfriend whilst we have a nose around Bath.

Otherwise I'd book a travelodge :p

Book a travel lodge & have a better time in Bath with the saving. :)
