Fuji S9000

If you're serious about photography, don't bother with these bridge cameras. Buy a used DLSR instead (Canon 400D, Nikon D50).

But not much experience with that model. Have you tried reading reviews of it?

I have an S9500 - it's 'okay' but I'm finding it pretty difficult to get the best out of the shots I take. I wish I'd saved more and bought a DSLR.

If you source around, you can happily have a second hand Canon 20D + 50mm f/1.8 for under £300, if not less. (Look around for the 300D, 350D, 400D even) - With the kit lens, it'll be better in the long run.

That is IF you're serious about your photography.

Otherwise, why are you looking at the bridge camera? Is it the "compact" with a longer zoom you're looking for?

I've got an S5600. good camera, decent lens. struggles in low light however. bought as a stepping point into dslr later this year. very pleased with it, if you're looking at a bridge camera S9600 is fairly cheap at moment.....

Well yeah i really do want to get serious into photography as a hobbie and enthusiast.

I suppose i'll just go after a a DSLR then because i want to do a lot of automotive stuff so im gonna need a DSLR really arent i for capturing motion shots etc.

A DSLR and probably an expensive zoom lens if you're capturing track racing shots... So best to save the money for the Fuji and seek what other forumers might put forward for. (I bow out on the automotive stuff as I only do fast kicking people and others :p)

Hehe Yeah :)

Well as i said automotive i ment more photoshoots etc i want to get into. i mean i will do the odd track stuff because it interests me but i want to be taking shots like these....

and some long exsposed shots

Those are fairly good shots? Which camera do you have already?

I have a question about my S9500 that has been puzzling me for a while....
It has a switch at the top for all the different functions, aperture, shutter, auto etc etc... If I choose shutter and set the shutter to say 5, then change to aperture and set the aperture F5, will it remember my shutter settings? Or, is aperture a completely different function?

When I put it on the aperture setting and take a photo, everything usually ends up blurry, unless it's at the smallest setting.

Thanks, hope that makes sense.

Well those shots arent taken by me, there a friends i talk to over the net.
But i do hope to get to a point where im able to take shots of that quality.

Twentymac - the S9600 will take pics of that quality, just remember that the lens is fixed!
shifty_uk - not quite sure what you mean, if you change the mode dial the settings will change. If you want to change ALL the settings you need to be in M (manual) mode. You can shift between them then....

Yeah i've reading reviews of it and its gettting 10/10 everywhere.

Plus i found out you can buy lenses for them just the add on ones so i can have a little play around with those.

I got a bridge camera to learn on and I don't regret it one bit. I do now want a DSLR, but can't afford one at the moment (well, not with all the extras as well) so for now I'm sticking with my S6500fd, which is doing me proud at the moment.

This is what I was after, thanks dude. Now I just need to work out how to switch between the two. :p

you can't/don't need to

in aperture mode you can only change the aperture
in shutter speed mode you can only change the shutter speed
in manual you can change both

no switching between the two is possible nor needed.

On my S5600 it's done using the 4 cross keys on camera back.....one set alters aperture, other set alters shutter speed. they are displayed via the viewfinder or rear display.
hope that helps!

I'm 'serious' about photography and I use a bridge camera. Whether my photos are good enough or not though is another matter.

I don't like the Fuji bridge models, do a search on here and you'll find my opinions.
