MK5 fiesta Zetec-s?

They are nice cars, not as quick as the Saxo VTS equivilant, although to be honest i've alwasy believed they should be comparable to the VTR instead.

Certainly not the quickest of 'Hot Hatches' but it makes up for it in other areas (I.E build quality vs. french rattling and plastics).

This is why i like the fiesta, although it isnt the fastest on the straights it will corner will, probably wont rattle it's self to pieces and my dad worked in a ford dealers for 26+ years and knows more or less every ford inside out. the french cars seem to have odd quirks that would throw me off and i wouldnt know what to look at and how to maintain it but with the fords i know my way around and my old man will too. I will spend a few more £'s to get a good car and i wont consider anything knocking around the 70,000 plus mark as i want to kep the car for a few years and put some mileage on it myself. I have seem examples of cars with only 55k on the clock for around £3500 so hopefully my top limit of 4k will get me a nice well loved car.

You have to watch the arch lips on them, and the metal underneath the rubber door seals, as it corrodes.

Ford should repair it, but if its a MK5 you are after, its probably out of its warranty period now, so make you sure you check that its either a) been repaired or b) not corroding.

The other common thing to happen is for the colour on the steering wheel to rub off, again, something that *was* repalced under warranty, but might not be now due to the age of the vehicle.

was just about to say all fiestas rust like ****

EDIT: i mean all fords rust like **** :D although my 7 year old one has no rust yet

i am aware of the rust that these get especially round the arches but that wont bother me as my dad works in a bodyshop and can get this sorted. I've noticed the colour on the steering wheel does fade badly but a bit of paint will fix this. I will take my old man along and if there's any hint of a lemon i will walk away, i have a few months to find something before my insurance renewal for my escort in October.

All cars rust, i've seem some really rotten mercs and volkswagens so that doesnt phase me too much. Escorts are also supposed to rot like mad but mine is 11 years old and TOTALLY rust free!
