Just had a bit off a prang in a car park, reversing out of a bay and swung round only to find someone pulling right out of a bay and I have went into the back quarter of his, his wasnt bas but mine needs new bumper and new light cluster, plus some back panel work (Leon Mk1).

Have to go through insurance as his was a company car, I have 5 years NCB but not protected. Any ideas what happens with NCB? Obviously i cant call them until tomorrow so just thought I would ask.

Thanks

Five years seems extreme to say the least, 2 sounds plausible. Even if its protected does it even matter as you still have ot put down a claim was made and that effects it anyway.

True, I always say NCB and having an accident are 2 different things that'll alter the price of a premium. NCB shouldn't be called that anymore, it's just an insurers 'discount' on a baseline price imho.

So in the case quoted, yes you're premium would go up as you're declaring an accident, but if you had the 5 years ncb instead of the 3 say it'd be a little cheaper as you'd be getting more discount.

I think that makes sense anyway :/

It's fickle that they still call it a no claims discount in the world of 'protected' and 'guaranteed' NCB, aw well.
