Is it possible to jump over a car that's going to hit you?

You know in the movies, when a ninja or hardman will have someone attempt to run him over, and he'll hop onto the bonnet, then run over the roof, and off the boot back to where he landed.

Just wondering if this is possible, if you react quick enough and the driver doesn't  Obviously 4x4's are a little tougher, but something like my car has a nice long bonnet to plant a foot.

No real reason to ask this, just wondering if I could look like a ninja the next time a car is speeding towards me. :D

Depends how fast the car is going. I would imagine you could jump on the bonnet, but the car will be going to fast for you to make your next move, and sweep your legs with the window screen.

I suppose if its not too fast, you could jump onto the bonnet with one foot then jump onto the top of the car and over. Just make sure you dont turn around and shout "YES I DID IT". Then get clobbered by a smart car . :p

You could attempt to dive over the car, although this could end badly if there's not a swimming pool being towed.

There was a youtube video of someone doing this. Not sure if it was fake or not though.

If you're referring to Kobe, I think it's fake. The car is turning at the time of his jump, and from the shadows and placement of feet/car tyres, I'd say the car went around him, very subtley.

Back to topic: I don't mean completely clear it like that, I mean run over it, like hop one foot onto the bonnet, one across the roof, and one step on the boot if necessary.

if you jump on the bonnet you'll get your legs smashed in, however if the car is going fast enough and you can jump high enough you could possibly clear it. other wises it's jump out of the way/ onto and roll (sideways into windscreen)on the bonnet.

Then no unless the car is going very slow the windscreen will just smash your knee backwards.

Horse tried this, didn't go well, so I don't think I'll attempt the same.

try it, but get a mate to record it for LOL value!! :D

on a serious note. i dont think you could. like said above your legs and everything would get swept out from under you

Old TV show in the '80s called "That's Incredible", there was a chap that did it with a mid-size sedan moving at 60 MPH. It's a matter of jumping for height, timing, and having the car moving fast enough that it gets under you in a hurry.

edit: I can't get to this link from work to see if it's the same stunt or not, but Google pointed me here:

its possible to run up and down the car whilst its stopped.. so surely its possible to do it if its moving at 1mph.. and then just keep increasing its speed til you die..

end result: yes its possible :)

It is possible but the car would have to be going pretty fast and depending on the height of the car your jump would also have to be high.

There is a video on youtube of Kobe jumping over an Aston Martin, dont know if its fake or not, but the speed the car is going I could prolly jump over it at that speed.

Jumping onto the bonnet of a car and the trying to jump over the rest of it from the bonnet I think would end bad for you if the car was going fast. 30+ mph and you wouldnt have enough time to react and you would just smash down onto the roof of the car when the windscreen hits you. If the car was going very slow though it would be possible to jump up and lift your legs up high enough before you get hit by it.
