Microsoft to Announce Blu-Ray Xbox on Monday

Yeah good luck getting new titles on HDDVD in the later months of this year, Warner are about to stop or have stopped making new HDDVD along with other movie studios.

I hope you like watching the same movies over and over again.;)

i really don't care, it's cheaper currently to buy hd dvds than blu rays, i'm not replacing 'old' DVDs, i'm just buying new ones i wanted, and for less than the price of 'normal' DVDs i'd be stupid not to, especially as the HD player only cost £3 (remote is still worth £17 ;))

i hope you like failing at trying to be 'smart'

Even with a quieter drive the fans are still pretty loud.
If they make EVERYTHING quieter, yes, but it wouldn't work as a HD-DVD-esque add-on.

My Falcon elite is extremely quiet when playing demos etc from the hard drive. I would go as far to say quieter than my PS3.

Much as it sounds like a gas turbine when playing games, the 360 when playing normal DVD's, is no louder than say, a ps2.

360s aren't too loud, certainly the launch models were (i had one) but the more recent falcons aren't loud at all (i have one
Oh really? So the fact that current 360's come with three (or it now could be four) different manufacturer's cooling fans, means they all sound the same does it?

Think again.

It all depends what fans you have in it, my old Elite was very quiet but the HDMI went faulty so I had to swap it out. The replacement has a horrible high pitched noise coming from the fans. It's not air flow noise, it's crap bearings in cheap fans noise.

People simply stating that 360's are not noisy are talking from limited experience, of not having had the misfortune of having a harrier jump jet under their TV.

I think the fact that it's stated this version will be cheaper than the Elite, pretty much shows this is all rubbish. Why on earth would a Blu-Ray enabled 360 be cheaper to manufacture?

Good for you ..... enjoy your dead format, I have my 360 for games and my ps3 for games and blu ray ....

Glad I have both systems and ain't such a defensive, arrogant douche.

glad i'm not attempting to make myself feel big by attempting (and failing) to belittle someone elses choices.

p.s. enjoy your £20-£30 hd dvds

Wow, total idiot on the loose - he purchased a hd-dvd player because it was cheap and many titles were available for next to nothing, as opposed to buying them on blu ray for 10 times the price. Stop being such a moron
