Best car for circa £1,000

I'm 17 and have done about 10 driving lessons so far, i don't know/understand much about cars but i like the look of Vauxhall Corsa's && Renault Clio's. Are these cars any good?

Also what other sites are good to look for used cars other than ebay & autotrader?

www.pistonheads.com and gumtree.com are good places to look. I wouldnt go for the corsa as they seem over priced and the clio's aren't great either. i'd get a Fiesta or even a nissan micra, they look rubbish but last for ages.

sorry but the insurance would kill the young lad and they are not an ideal car to get used to driving in.

Learning in a ford focus, not sure about the engine size, i'll ask my instructor next lesson, and yes i don't want to be stung by a whopping insurance bill

me and tom nbk and many more had one at 17, am 19 now and got a mk3 mondy, want an st220 next or e39 zimmer

i wouldn't get a mondy for a grand if i were you, how about a fiesta 1.25
