Microsoft to Announce Blu-Ray Xbox on Monday

Noise issues aside, another budget blu-ray player on the market can only be a good thing for everyone. Blu-ray will be more widely adopted, thus reducing the cost of the films themselves and other blu-ray capable prices will have to reduce their price to compete.

do you use your loud surround sound system late at night when watching the odd dvd then? is it still LOUD enough to drown out the noise?

you know even my ps3 does grate me sometimes when watching films. it is annoying, more so with dvd's than bluray. it seems upscaling the dvd's is more intensive.

i listen to dvds pretty loud
like last night, watched tomb raider 2 pretty loud didnt finish till 3.30 i dont like watching film with an headset, its gay.

This is like the fifth time now that some clown's thrown a 'blu-ray on 360!111' wrench into the works and it came up with nothing. I'm just gonna dismiss it as a lie for page hits next time it gets mentioned.

I think the problem with talking about the 360 noise is that it varies between different revisions of the console so much and it's an entirely subjective thing to comment on.
Absolutely correct, if only everyone could fathom this. If all components were the same in all revisions then the case might be a different one.

The problem here is, will Microsoft then start making Blu-ray games? Thus forcing current owners to purchase said add-on (I'm talking MGS4 rumour here)

The irony.
Indeed.

The machine itself is also fat, ugly and hideous compared to the 360 and Wii. Most ergonomic? Must be having a laugh!

A matter of taste surely, I prefer the PS3. Does that mean I have no taste? You possibly think so, but i then think that the 360 looks hideous. Which just shows people have different preferences.

I also prefer Brunettes to Blondes

PS3 looks a lot better than 360 IMO ofcourse.

I think both consoles look ok in shape and style, however the PS3 looks more 'quality' compared to the 'cheap' looking plastic of the 360.

They won't, it would be reputation suicide.
They don't exactly have a great reputation for customer respect anyway.

I think this sub forum is pure evidence that console users are pathetic whingers becasue they can't justify having both formats so feel the need to pick faults with one or the other.

The 360 is a bit noisy, boo hoo. Don't like it get a PS3. If you were really bothered about blu Ray you'd get a PS3 or alternative player.

In other news, probs gonna sell my 360. Can't be bothered with it anymore. Console-less I shall be.

No. They don't need to, BR is causing as many problems as it's stopping. DVD swapping isn't an issue, I'd take DVD swapping over installations for example.

Anyone thinking MGS4 isn't possible on DVD would be wrong, it's always possible to have disc swapping. Next-Generation Blu-Ray WILL be used brilliantly, MS may use their own propriety format much like Sega did with GD's for Dreamcast, but for now, mass storage on game discs is only beneficial for bonus content and HD-Videos.

If MS add a BR drive it will be purely for movies.
