It wasn't offside according to the rules you just quoted - Panucci left the field during play and did not do so with the permission of the referee, therefore he is considered to be stood on the goal line and therefore on the pitch.

Hmmm dunno about that Gimp, i thought Italy did play well...much better than France and Romania earlier on today. God that was a dire match to say the least
. Italy should have scored at least one goal but VDS made a stunning save to deny them. I dont think the Italians are going to struggle much against the French and Romanians though but then who thought they were going to get beat tonight by the Dutch. Plus its a known fact that Italy always start off tournaments slowly ie the last world cup they werent all that spectacular in the group stages.

Aye but in the World cup their group was full of mediocre teams, not Holland and France
True very true but going by tonights performance i think they were desperately unlucky not to get at least a couple of goals. The 2nd half from my view was really theirs, they dominated possession but couldnt get the job done no thanks to VDS who made some stunning saves. But it was a given that Holland were going to rip them apart on the counter and they did...2 goals came from a counter attack.
On another note it could have been 4 goals had that new wonderkid scored...cant remember his name but he hit the crossbar with his first touch

My head still says france they will come good all the comments in this thread are really over reacting about that game.
Romania have always been a decent side and set out for the draw today mark my words france will beat holland and italy.

Well if France play like they did today...then im sorry they havent got a hope in hell of beating the Dutch. The Dutch will simply rip them apart and remember RVP isnt fully fit yet
and Robben for Holland wasnt playing. Imagine if Van Basten had him available for tonight, it could have easily been a massacre. Same thing with Italy, Italy were desperately unlucky not to have had a couple of goals and honestly the first Dutch goal shouldnt have counted. But honestly i dont think France will beat the Dutch or Italians...perhaps a draw against them but beating them??..after seeing how they played today against the Romanians??...ermmm nope id rather not take chance of having a punt on them. But still early days....this group is going be pretty interesting in the next few days i think.Still my money is on the Spanish to win it, id love to see them win it but if not then i think the Dutch are in there with a shout after tonights performance.
