Just watching the coverage on BBC and is anyone else really impressed with the anaylsis side? They all seem to know their stuff and use the video footage extremely effectively in showing how the match is progressing and who is performing. I find it much better than iTV with their constant adverts and it really isn't all that exciting during halftime.

Anyone else find this? Silly thread i know. :o

Yup the BBC pundits have always been pretty good. Martin O'Neil is almost always spot on with what he says, plus Shearer and Hansen are both good at analysing the attacking and defensive side of the game respectively.

On the other side of the fence ITV are shocking, their flagship pundit is the clueless Andy Townsend, who seems more interested in talking as much as possible rather than trying to raise some valid points. They've also got David Pleat commentating

The commentary on the website is also genius

1801: "Brainwave! Anelka is playing bad because he doesnt have his trusty No. 39 shirt!"
Henry, Surrey, via text

No, he's playing bad because at this moment in time, he's completely and utterly rubbish.

BBC's pundits are the best by a mile but unfortunately their commentators are shocking (still better than ITV's though).

Anyone notice the witty comments they make? Gary mentioned yesterday about everyone knowing a Polish person as there are around 2m in England. :p

Also today, commenting about the whole France starsign thing. :D

No, I think they're utter rubbish, however, being able to replace Motson with Five Live (who aren't afraid to say what we're all thinking) for comedy value.

The BBC desperately need Ian Wright back.

He won't go back to them, he hates Gary Lineker, he dislikes the BBC's attitude or the fact he was seen purely as comic relief, when in-fact, placed alongside a BBC Bod (Lineker), a Dane (Schmeichel), A Welshman (Lawrenson) and a Scot (Hansen) he was the only true English supporter watching an English match, yet they just ignored him.

I know but the current set up is awful. Hansen and Shearer are the ultimate wooden tops and Lineker suffers from Kristina Grimes syndrome.

Martin O'Neill - excellent. Always makes interesting observations and can be quite humorous too.

John Motson - awful. He can't even get player names right.

Has anyone else noticed that all the commentators and pundits seem to be referring to the Dutch team as "Holland"? I always thought to use it in that way was erroneous.
