Hi chaps,

I have the 16:9 Satnav in the bimmer, which only has tape player/radio, so am keen to get something else hooked up.

The first option would be to buy a compatible 6 CD changer which fits in the boot, except ones that take mp3 CDs are rare, so likely to have to buy one new (£100-£150 ish). I gather the 16:9 doesn't support ID3 tags, so you can't see the tracks or something?

Would it be better to buy an ipod/mp3 player and hook it up? I've got an Aux connection (not fitted but just need to plug it into the headunit). How can it be setup easily to change track though? Don't fancy having it on show.

Anyone have something similar setup?

I've recently bought two BMW MP3 changers on Ebay from sellers who presumably didn't realise what they had - one was £67 the other was £65. So keep looking - they exist, and you can get them at a decent enough price.

Get an Intravee, KCA-420i and an iPod. By far the best solution especially if you have 16:9.

If you have 16:9 sat nav forget any other option apart from the Intravee as Olly says. With the Intravee you can also connect an Alpine CHA-S634 MP3 CD changer as well as an iPod which will display ID3 information unlike the OEM BMW one. The CHA-S634 changer has the same casing as the (Alpine made) OEM BMW one too which means all the brackets fit.

How did you tell the difference between the MP3 and non-MP3 versions?

Thanks chaps, didn't know something like the Intravee existed - looks ideal.

Neither did I, that's very cool  Is such a system only available for BMW equipment then? No other manufacturers?

And Fox, was one not enough? :p

Can only find the Intravee from the 'official' UK dealer @ £150. Nothing on the bay.

Anyone know other specialist sites that sell them? I'm going to hunt the bimmer forums for sale sites later.

All installed and setup :) Went for the Alpine MP3 changer + Intravee II. Hidden the Intravee behind the changer/nav computer in the boot (2nd pic). Sub connected up but just need to tidy the cables a bit and wash the carpet :p

Wasn't too fussed either way really. Nothing much wrong with MP3 CDs - 6 of them can hold 800-900 tracks in total. More than I need anyway :p

I said that until I got ipod in the car, i'll never go back again. All my music to hand and much quicker/easier to update.
