Hi guys.

I have been trwling these threads in here over the past few weeks as looking to get the first car for the wife and i.

firstly the requirments.

1/ nothing too masive, probably a hatch back.

2/ something that can be an ongoing project so something easy to tweak. (I am not a bad boy racer or want to be one) just small tuning jobs, suspension tweaks etc.

3/ not to expensive to run and insure (the wife is only 22 and im 27, both new drivers)

4/ if possible boot large enough for 2x Mountain bikes (with front wheels off)

As for budget i would say £2k so something definatley second hand.

for your recomendations can you please let me know what i should be looknig for i.e. are they notorious to body rot in certain areas, are they prone to certain types of malfunctions.

hope its not too much to ask but thanks anyway.

You can get a nice low-ish milage escort estate for that money.
trying to avoid estates and really not to keen on escorts at all!

mondeo :p lol

Or a focus..

itake it you are talking about a mk1 focus?

also to add the bikes can quite easily be put on the back of the car on a rack so boot space is really not a top priority but would be nice to have.

Big but not overly bit and as long as you get the later MK6/7 models you'll be ok.

You wont get a very good focus for that money...

oh the shame! after all these stories about people making liove to cars etc... i had to go and do something that stupid!

im now braced for all possible flames and jokes :p

what are peoples thoughts on pug 306's
for some reason the missus likes these! I dont mind them and can be had within budget?
