Blu-Ray equal to Progressive Scan DVD?

50% to 2/3 are imported region free titles but yes I have :D

About 10-20 where real impulse buys that I doubt I will watch again, so will sell when I get round to it (BR's that is) - the rest though I have probably watched 2 or 3 times (and some I have possibly watched 5 or 6)

Sad I know lol

actually I'm similar, but only got 60-70 blurays.

I get most of mine imported, and like you have a few impulse buys as well that weren't the best.

My latest import was Rambo 4, and that looks great on bluray ;)

Vin.

Wouldn't call it sad, just enthusiastic ;)

I haven't got any region free titles at the mo, just doing some shopping at the moment to expand my collection!

Unless they have cataracts, the difference will be exactly the same to them as it is us.

The difference is that most will not notice unless you point it out. So many times i've seen people connecting good kit with composite video cables and I've pleaded with them to use RGB scart. Only one person ever bothered to change the cable and he couldn't see the difference even though there was significant shimmering and purple fringing before.

The average man thinks he is watching Big Brother in HD just because he bought an HD Ready TV from Tescos.

Rambo 4 is actually worth watching (Ive heard it was too violent for a theatrical release)

The other thing that annoys me is when film companies rename the original film - I believe First Blood (pre original Rambo) is now "Rambo 1" and theatrical release of Rambo: First Blood pt 2 is now Rambo 2

I believe this is the case anyway

You are mainly talking about marketing though (in regards to Tescos)- if the same people watch an HD disc, or Sky HD on that set they wil see the difference more likely than not imo

There are some really decent films available on region free disc, look into it Im sure you will find plenty to enjoy (not saying your wallet will enjoy it though :) )

Rambo 4 is most definitely worth watching ;)
Made me laugh out loud, almost like comic/comedy levels of gore, all crystal clear on bluray.

I wanted to import it from the States, not only as it's not even out here yet, but because I wanted a non-BBFC edited version.
I always get narked when I pay for a movie, and they've hacked bits out, even as stupid as the original Matrix movie. I got the R1 copy at the time, and later learned that the R2 copy had something like 40 secs edited out, all the headbutts! Why?

Yes, the renaming is a bit pointless too.
In fact, my Rambo 4 disk is just called "Rambo" but I called it Rambo 4 in here, or people would probably think I meant Rambo (First Blood Part 2).

I also got First Blood on bluray, as the import price is only £9 new.
Looks good too. Not as good as a brand new film release, a few of the scenes looked artificially sharpened, to the level they had the mosquito effect, and looked almost out of focus. For the most part though, it looked great, better than I'd expected, and all those panoramic shots of up the mountain, in the trees, look great.

Vin.

EDIT: As far as too violent for theatrical release, I don't think so. I watched the special features, and they said that they sent it off for certification, as is, expecting it to get an 18, then they'd trim it back a bit to get an R. They said they were surprised when it came back with an R rating as is, so nothing was cut. They said there'd be no Unrated version, or Director's cut, as everything they wanted to include, is all there.
