need to play uo really this is the only game in all that when i look at a screenshot i get all excited about playing again It's so sexy

It does have something about it doesn't it
Like you have found out you can download the game and play on the Shard for bugger all so it's definately worth atleast a few hours a week for a little real PvP and banter if nothing else.
Ahhh UO.. the number of times a 'quick play' turned into a 12 hour sigil raid on CoM only to loose them while at school lol.
It all felt so much more personal back then, you knew everyone who was anyone. Even GMs setting up CTF events only for everyone to lose so badly to us

All I did back in 01-03 is mine stuff and hang around with friends, never got into it.
Stopped int at 25 because of the 225 limit (the shards I used to play on have anything from 300-600 =o)
What's the best was to raise dex? Archery doesn't get many gains, neither does fishing, not compared to Lumberjacking with strength anyway.
How do I make skills go down to free up skill points? I stuck the down arrow on em.

I have not power gamed on UOG for a long time, but their forums have a wealth of info for you. As a general rule though, unless it is restricting your training you should not worry about stats until your 700'ed.
The best way to gain dex is to train musicianship. Just record a macro in Razor and play in an area where there are lots of NPC's. I find the docks in Skara Brae to be rather good for levelling, I GM'ed musicianship last night on my bard.
We need to get all the people here that said they are playing together in-game to meet up and do something as we're all starting out, it'd be nice to get a little gang going with a view to perhaps forming a Guild when we can afford a house and a stone. What are your thoughts?

I've also started working on a mule char, he's just outside Minoc but he got killed the other day whilst mining and I haven't resurrected him yet

Resistance is futile! I've been PKed 5 times since I started playing a few days ago, and despite me dying and losing my stuff, it still leaves a grin on my face because I remember the times I had in the original Felucca and this shard gives me the same feeling I had back then
