I made a char on this shard the other day thinking with only 800-1000 people on the shard it wouldn't be too difficult to find somewhere to put a house. I've not fully explored the shard yet but the places I have been it looks like you'd have a job to find a spot to put even a 7x7. It doesn't help either that they seems to have not changed house placing rules such that you can place over small rocks etc like you can on production shards, unless I am doing something wrong. This is stopping me wanting to play the game for real cos I always like to have a place of my own to store stuff and use as a base.
Taming is one of the easiest ways of making money because you can kill creatures that drop a lot of gold very easily. You're also fairly well protected because not many players will risk attacking a player that has two dragons following close behind, unless of course they're not alone themselves
Bubo, how are you able to afford a house on the shard if you started the other day? Surely they're quite expensive? What have you done to get so much gold so that we can all jump on the bandwagon
What's the best way of training taming? Still can't do deer or bears and get very few gains from birds/pigs/sheep/goats. It says on a guide that you can retame any creature you've already tamed, does this mean any creature of that type, so if I successfully tame a sheep, all sheep will be tamed first time but give no gains, or just that particular sheep.
noooo it means that if you tame a perticular sheep, set it free, you can then retame it and its harder to retame as it remembers the feeling of being cast away

I'm talking about for when I do have enough gold. I'm saying that on the face of it it looks like there is little if any space for new houses, so that kind of puts me off putting real time into the game to make proper money, if there is no where for me to put a decent house. I bought a house placing tool and thats how I found out about the non removal of the blocking rule on productions shards. How much more expensive are houses on this shard btw? You cannot tame the same creature again after you've already tamed and released it and get a gain. This will only work if it is another player's animal that you're taming, and you can get multiple gains for failures and success. The best thing to do is to lock your animal lore as this is really easy to skill up anyway. Then you'll get much better gains on your animal taming because it's harder to tame the animals.
I did 49 - 70 taming random animals at the farms off the Jhelom teleporter, and the animals roaming around near Moonglow's moongate. After that, it's bulls in Delucia, but I kinda can't remember how to get there (I remember that there was a passageway through one of the mountains somewhere, I think near Trinsic but I'm not 100% sure). I'll figure it out tonight

Yeah I think the prices are roughly the same. I haven't checked everywhere, but there appeared to be a few spaces further southeast of Yew. Obviously the better spots will always be full, but there will definitely be some spaces around. Don't forget that there are also places like Fire Isle and Deceit Isle that you can place houses on too.
I GMed Taming in no time, my first char on the shard too. I simply followed the "Make a tamer in 2 days guide" go to the forum of www.uogamers.com then in the Guide section there should be a post there, it's really easy just follow it!
Also you must be strong when starting the bulls because delucia is packed with morons trying to PK you or lure mobs on you etc..
ChoKKa you can forget about placing an house on deceit island, i was there for taming made the whole island a few times and it is packed with house not even one place. dont know about fire island tho

Not sure I'm with you chief. What did you donate to whom? Bought money, like paid real cash for UO gold?. Last part about fundings and guild I can't decipher sorry. You saying you've got the cash but can't find a house spot? Then something about pooling funds for a guild maybe? Could do with a few full stops methinks

well ive been playing on uo: gamers hybrid free server for a while now and i donated some money to them in exchange for 1mil. i am wondering if that's the server you all play on? or if you play on the official servers. if you do play on the same shard as me i wouldn't mind putting forward a lot of the money to get a house and guild stone for us all to play on.

Yeah we're all on UO Gamers : Hybrid. It'd be awesome to have a base of operations somewhere. Give me a shout, my MSN is in my trust. I'm currently playing a few characters, getting them ready to earn some cash, but I'm a little way off at the moment. I've just 4 x GMed my lumber warrior, but he's still got a bit more to go before he is ready. I'm also working on a tamer and a bard. That's there the money's at.
As much as I love UO I will not be joining in.
The UO world has moved on and sometimes it is best to leave things in the past.
I have some very happy memories from UO - as everyone does from the very first MMORPG they play.
I played it, I put a lot of years into the game but I'll never go back to it now.
Little disapointed to see talk of "macro" coming up already.
If you are talking about setting a macro to make it easier to do tasks then fine.
But being a very long term UO player I know that Macro usually means unattended and I'm afraid that was my one pet hate in UO - people who did unattended macroing.
What we would do was find somebody unattended - they were always walking as you can't macro on the spot.
We'd cast a gate in front of them to a spot just on the edge of guard protection - that way they wouldn't get the "Are you sure you want to walk through this gate?" pop-up.
Once on the edge of protection it was only a matter of time before the unattended would wander out of protection.
Once they did another gate would be placed in front of them to a very deep dungeon.
The amount of unattendeds we took out was amazing!
Ah - more UO memories...but no...no going back.

I agree that the world has moved on, but this shard isn't the new world. In actual fact, I've seen very little influence from the newer versions of UO. It's still extremely faithful to the old ways. It reminds me a lot of the good old days, memories that I have of how it was back then, memories that I would give anything to relive once again, and it would be silly not to at least try to when there's a shard like Hybrid that offers a lot of the old stuff, with an active player base.
On the point of macroing, I think you'll find that it's only done to speed things up because people have already GMed multiple characters on the official shards all those years ago, but obviously have to restart on Hybrid. Personally, I'm only macroing because I have already done the whole multiple character, multiple account 7xGM on the normal UO shards, and my macroing on Hybrid is not unattended. The only way you can really macro unattended is by using EasyUO, which is against the rules of the server. Obviously you can use Razor to perform the smaller tasks like healing a ghost over and over for gains, but I don't macro whilst physically away from the computer because I don't believe in it. The macros I have made are only to make it easier to heal up or use skills like anatomy or evaluating intelligence whilst I'm fighting in Jhelom duel pit, or skilling up somewhere else. The gains on Hybrid are a lot quicker than they are on the old OSI shards anyway, so it doesn't take long to skill up a character anyway.

The Trust system is a secure area that you can put things like your MSN or email details, so that spam bots can't get hold of them as you have to be registered and have a certain amount of posts before it can be accessed. It also serves as the area for feedback on trades made in the Member's Market.

Gave it a little try last night and found it a little intimidating to start with.
My first MMOG was Eve, followed by SWG [which I din't give enough time too], then back to Eve then WoW, LOTRO, back to WoW then now
Are there any really good sites that give you a headstart into the game? I tried following the Taming guide from the forums and started in Jhellom. Ended up walking over what I later found out was a teleporter, at the same time as another char, and next thing I know I'm on a small island with a few shops! Took about 20 mins to get off having to wait for someone to use teleporter back - hehe!
