Do you think it's like the Megadrive or Snes again?

The Wii is an amazing console...my flatmates can easily pick up the controller and play against me...wii sports tennis and mario kart wii seem to be the most favourable choice :D

Stop being pedantic, it doesn't suit you.

That's just your opinion, stated as fact.

Let's put it another way, If I were to personally recommend a system to someone who was interested in playing a lot of games at a bargain price with a large variety of different types of game I would currently point them towards the Xbox 360 unless they really wanted to play Uncharted and the handful of PS3 exclusives currently available. The Xbox has more to offer a gamer as it stands at the minute IN MY OPINION!

I bought a PS3 about a month ago and it's undeniably a superb piece of kit, however I have run out of games to play on it. Fortunately for me I also bought it as a BluRay player to compliment my new telly.

What did I do next? you guessed it, I went and got a 360 Arcade, bagged a HD for £17.50 on an auction site and I cannot see me running out of games any time soon.

A lot of the PS3 exclusives are sequels, that's not a problem for me, the problem is that we won't be seeing many of them this year, the real big guns like Final Fantasy and GT5 are still a way off release.

So there you have my opinion, we both have both consoles and that's great but If they both got nicked and I had to buy just one again based on gaming it would be the 360, even though I feel that the PS3 is the better machine and will take the lead sometime in the future.

There...is that better?

Oh and the SNES outclassed the Megadrive by a country mile...FACT!!!

I could keep this up all day:)

jeez - all that talk about snes vs megadrive, with crayon drawn pictures of Mario beheading Sonic in Mean Machines or CVG, and we havent learned anything from the pointless banter about which console pwns the others....

I fail to see how sequels are bad though, if anything they are good, they generally allow scope for improvements over previous titles, effectivly evoultion. Sequals are important. No CoD4 for example.

Well yes, basically. Either that or there's been a huge influx of excellent games all within a month or so. Either way you've got tons of games to be playing through. I am literally drowning in games for my 360, and I don't even have all the games I want. So many games so little time.

My PS3, it's very much a different story.

i got a 360 on release and sold it after canning PGR because nothing intrested me. tried a good few games and never really got into any, just cause , saints row , oblivion. even now i cant think of many/any exclusive that would make me buy one

if i bought one at the moment it would be because its cheaper to play multiplatform games on it.

i fail to see your point ? and only 2 of those "original" games are exclusive arent they ?.

theres nothing at all wrong with sequels , id rather play and continue some sort of story from a game ive played before then just play a newly named game which is pretty much the same anyway.

This isn't how I hoped the tread would turn out. I started on a positive for all formats and now :-/

I had ago of Uncharted around my neighbours. It looked lovely but just felt like Tomb Raider.

Well, comments like that aren't going to help it back on track are they?

It is obviously influenced by TR and Indiana Jones but the gameplay mechanics have as much in common with the duck and cover style of Gears of War once you get into the combat.

This was always a console vs console thread so I say let's fight :) I can't lose out either way....Oh yeah...the Wii..hmm, sold mine :D

I had both a Mega Drive and SNES which were played equally - the SNES had the far better RPGs and adventure games while the Mega Drive had games like Streets of Rage, Sonic (which I liked more than Mario at the time), Vectorman, Comix Zone, etc. It did good platforming games more frequently. I also had a NeoGeo which got literally a few days' gameplay.

This generation mimmicks it almost identically - you have the staple PS3 and 360, with the Wii getting no play and eventually being sold, just like my old NeoGeo was.

Thought it had the lowest by far? This is based off several month old NPD data though.

More recent posting: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=17099 January of this year still sees Wii having lowest attach rate.

Dude please don't compare the awesomeness that is the NEO-GEO to the Wii :p
