'Best' kitchen company?

Mum wants a new kitchen for our recently moved into house. The current kitchen is **** and she wants something not too expensive but decent quaility as she loves her cooking - wear and tear etc.

She was tempted by Magnet but has heard nothing but bad things.

The kitchen itself is quite small, a 'L' shape so 5m long and 4m wide but it's basically an 'L' shape as there is a free standing fridge which i'm sure will be kept or placed into a unit of some description.

So advice? Which company is a safe bet at this moment in time?

We went for a local kitchen company that came highly recommended. I would suggest asking around work etc for people who have kitchens done recently and see what they say.

My mother was shopping in Morrisons or somewhere and there was the usual promotion type people trying to sell crap.

She was in the market for a kitchen , and even though i woulda advised against it she went with the company.

got nice units and got it fitted with electrics, plumbing and fitting of the appliances etc for about 1000 quid (labour).. which was actually pretty reasonable i thought.

So dont just go for the big names because they rip you off, look for local fitters and buy the units yourself, or maybe you might see something similar to what my mam got while shopping lol

I'm not sure my Mum wants to fit it and i certainly don't have the patience or skills.

Get your video camera out and make up some story about how your mum is a refugee from Romania with no legs who has spent her entire life looking after 17 adopted kids and in her spare time runs the local dogs' home whilst also running a marathon every other week (in her wheelchair) for charidee to help out the kids in Chernobyl.

Send the tape to the BBC and you'll get Handy Andy round to build you a nice new kitchen, and maybe even Alan Titchmarsh will do your garden for you too!

Wouldn't recommend any of the nationals - try and find a local business that been around for at least ten years. In this game, you dont stay around (if you're small anyway) by being crap
