just wondered if you current V1 owners are going to be buying the new 3G iphone?

ive had mine since January, lovin it, don't think i need the 3G speed tbh.

but v2 being so cheap, these phones will be come very common, very quickly :(

Im not. I paid £169 for a V1 and they only thing that could slightly persuade me to get a V2 would be a better camera which it doesnt have.

Im happy with mine and dont think the V2 is much better really.

It won't get very common very quickly TBH.

The contracts still suck major backside for people who don't really need the data side of things, I for one don't want the wifi accounts!

Nope, a few reasons really

1 - I don't want a contract, i currently top up £20 a month MAX on my phone.
2 - I just got this iphone like less than 2 months ago
3 - If i want 3G/GPS, i can always use my N95
4 - They didn't upgrade the screen or change its design much
5 - Not only i don't want the contract, i don't think i can afford it at the moment.

Me too Justin! I'm just gonna take out the upgrade and sell my v1 - which will more than cover the upgrade cost.

Even though 35 quid is a lot to pay - I've been paying it for the last few years so it doesn't make much difference to me!

Shame bout the camera, missed opportunity indeed - but its not enough to put me off! If I want to take photos, ill use my camera!

I am going to upgrade to a 16gb one only because o2 are offering it for £69 which I think is a bargin because I was considering getting a 16gb v1 eventuly now that I have a lot more music

I think i disagree with that, i think it will get more common.

Where people (regular joe who is not clued up on the whole jailbreak scene) had to pay £269 + £35 contract to get decent minutes.

That would put anyone off since most people expect the phone to be free for a contract of that value, so £269 is a big lump sum especially you are signing a 18 months contract. There was no other phones that made you pay £269 for the handset on contract at the time.

Now that has dropped to £99, and much more in line with the latest phones in stores and that itself would attach a lot of people where before would've been put off by the £269 phone cost.

I'm still not entirely sure, I want to see the GPS in action a bit more. But I'm not willing to pay that amount for a contract. Reduce it to £25, with more texts and I would go for it.

Depends what the state of play is with unlocking, and whether I'd have to pay for a PAYG one to get it out of the shop without signing up to anything. I'm happy enough with my V1, just fancy 3G really. Not keen on the plastic back though I understand why they had to do it.

I'm also disappointed in the plastic back, its not like apple to do that. The iPhone v1 metal is brilliant, very durable and sexy :P

Is it not effectively a free upgrade unless you really want to push the boat out and get the 16gb version?

It has to be plastic, metal would kill the GPS and 3G signals, making the iPhone 3G pretty much pointless..

cost cost cost methinks! But tbh as soon as a decent case / cover comes out all you'll see is the screen! Well-that's my view anyway!

Will try n find more info though, before I DEFINITELY buy one! Although its pretty much a certainty!

EDIT// wouldn't the metal knacker the gps signal?!

Damn- beaten to it!

Disapointed with the upgrade overall but definitely going to get it the day it is out. Already registered interest with o2.
