My Focus is coming up for 10'500 miles and last night I noticed that on the front tyres both of them are close to the centre change bar. Around the edges there is still quite a lot of tread. Normally I thought wear on the centre of the tyre was down to overinflation but the tyres have been set right where the manufacturer suggests. Does it suggest some other fault?

They are Pirelli P7 tyres. Are they just lame for wear rates? On my old car I had Conti Eco contacts and got about 20'000 out of fronts and 30'000 out of rears.

They key is in the name here. The ECO contacts are a long wearing, but less lateral grip tyre.

Secondly, I wish I got 10,500 miles out of a set of front tyres :(

It's the really uneven wear that surprises me most. I don't have a tool but looks like around 2.5mm left in the centre (assuming change bar is at 2mm) and about 5mm around the edge.

When you say the edges do you mean the outer edge or the inner edge is fine also?

If both edge have a lot more tread then overinflation seems plausible, if the outer edge is fine and the middle and inner edge is bold then you may have negative camber issues.
