Last year I read that Sony were gonna release a new PS2 Slimline with internal PSU.

I was looking on the bay and came across a PS2 that didn't have an external PSU and had a blue and white box, the description said it was PAL UK so i'm wondering if the new PS2 has been released.

Thanks

I bought a new slimline one recently (from a major online store) and it is still the older style with the external PSU.

Been after one myself since the start of the year and I have had no success in finding any with the built in PSU. Far as I know, they are only still available in Japan:(

far as I know they aren't released anywhere yet (nut the announcement was that they were coming to Japan and people assume they will trickle over to USA and Eu soon after).

Got any pics or size comparisons of these ones in Japan?

That's exactly what the PS2 on the bay looked like! And there was no PSU in sight, I wonder if it was actually a PAL UK version

Perhaps. The newer revision isn't necessarily superior though - in fact from a reliability and heat point of view, an external PSU strikes me as more desirable.

I assume they are on their way soon as a few weeks ago I picked up a brand new Slimline PS2 with buzz for £40 because the well known high street store was clearing out old stock. Still will pick up a Slimline PS2 with built in PSU when they become available.

possibly:) pretty amazing though, its all done in a 35w profile. that shouldnt really cause any problems at all. i know the original ps2 only used 50w - it makes you think. ps1 = 30w. ps2 = 50w. ps3.......180w :/

Its mad how the PS2 is still in production.

Not really - is there a better bang for buck console available? A huge array of games, some of which arguably stand up very well in every respect to the games of the current generation of consoles.

And the fact current PS3's dont support PS2 games.

why would anyone have a stack of PS2 games that they want to play on their PS3 but can't.... If they don't already have a PS2?

I've still got my release day PS2 :) but my PS3 plays all the PS2 games I've tried out anyway.
