MSI P45 Platinum - e8500 on Air

Just some High FSB tests to start so can find how the board scales with FSB and e8xx CPU's.

Spec:
MSI P45 Platinum "DDR2"
Crucial Ballistics DDR2 PC8500
Antec 1000w PSU
6800GT
Tuniq Tower

Great. Now get it running at 8 x 571 :D

Also don't you mean you got the ddr3 board and not the ddr2 board as you have stated in your build spec?

I mean what i posted Msi Platinum DDR2 @ OCUK CPU-Z+Memset read incorrect with that bios.

Also i want to aim for 571x 9.5 :p when i have time with cascade ;)

This was just some tests so i can show MSI P45 is nice with e8xx CPU's.

There are some real memory issues with this board my set of ballistix PC5300 that run well over 1000mhz will not boot much above 800 on this board. I have a set of corsair pc6400 that will boot at 950 but keep getting blue screens.

different board, but regardless ive seen other people get much better results with the Neo2 board. you must just be unlucky :(

Have you tried with GTL ref settings as these a play a big part with the P45 and stability.

Some settings i use for 550FSB stability.

Cheers I will have a go. I am curently using bios 1.1 beta3 which has improved things. I haven't been helped by the fact that my waterblock doesn't fit this board so i am using a sycthe ninja but am getting high temps!

i know the placement of the heat sink its best around CPU socket. i think few other P45's have same design.

can you email me the bios your using if possible and ill do some testing.;)

The beta bios is in the link. Just gone back to my MSI P35 Neo2 and that does 520 FSB with an E8400 and 465FSB with a QX9650. Been priming for a bit with ram at 1050 and its fine with the P45 board blue screens above 900mhz. Tried the gtl settings but no joy.
