Beeston, Nottingham

I wouldn't mind living here, but I can't afford it, so I drive from Chesterfield each day on the loveley M1, although I'm thinking about swapping to the train permanently.

I have friends in Beeston who I have visited loads, can't say it's that bad an area really

Victoria Hotel next to the station used to be a fantastic pub, amongst the best I have ever been to, haven't been there in years but hope it still is.

I lived in Nottingham years ago but Beeston was always an ok area certainly I wouldn't worry about finding somewhere reasonable to live there.

I live in Nottingham and work in Beeston right near to the station.

Seems ok ... the one negative comment I would make is if you are coming into Beeston station from Nottingham and leaving by the side gate then watch your footing as it's downright dangerous, (they need to do some repairs to the surfaces and lose the sloping edge to the step (as well as making the flat area you step down to wider before the other slope)).

PlacidCasual, I've only been to the Vic a couple of times but there is a common saying in our office if things are going badly, or well actually, which is "to the Vic!" ... so I think it's still considered to be reasonable.

Beeston is nice, definately one of the places where we will be looking when we go house hunting next year.

I lived in Nottingham for 3 years as a student and had mates who lived in Beeston. Used to do my shopping there at least twice a week at the big Sainsburys store. Just my opinion.

Pretty dodgy opinion to be honest. Beeston on the whole is fine, Lenton Abbey and the Rylands may appear rough, but I've known plenty who've lived there without problems. Yes, there are loads of students, but the majority of the ****** ones live elsewhere or those that do live nereby go elsewhere to be ******.

As for the charity shops comment

Still is a decent place for decent beer & food, but small and gets too busy. I've now started to frequent the Hemlock Stone out Wollaton way.

I live in The Park Estate which is VERY nice!

From what i've seen Beeston is a nice area and pretty much populated with uni students from nottingham uni. Has good transport links as well.

I haven't been there for a few years but from what I remember it didn't seem that bad. However, Mapperley for the win

not to bad area really most of the bad areas are close to notts city center.or few miles away.
