Golden Axe: For the 360, Oh my.

The difference is that Altered Beast was always a terrible game, just somehow people didn't see it at the time.

Golden Axe was, and still is, actually ace. Along with Streets Of Rage and Micro Machines, it's one of those old retro Mega Drive games I can bust out with friends and still enjoy.

This is very true. Even now I can play SOR and Golden.

I am looking forward to the new version, but not getting to excitted because sega recently seem to be wrecking all the games they come out with :/

The point I was making is no Megadrive games are good references to remake a game from.

Yes, those games are still fun to play on the Megadrive, but the fact is none of them will ever make a decent game this generation.
Mashed was essentially a remake of Micro Machines on the original Xbox, and that was pretty good.

I'd pay silly money for a direct remake of Toejam & Earl, but all HD'd up.
I heart that game like no other, it never, ever gets boring, ever.

"Please don't be a randomizer, please don't be a randomizer..."
*dramatic noise*
"Ah **** it"

Especially as no one ever did originally.
No Co-Op either.

Exactly. What's the point?

I'd be all for faithful remakes of Golden Axe, Streets of Rage etc, but taking the IP and giving us a game nothing like the original is lame.

Make it 3d, but keep the perspective and gameplay the same. Expanding on the original concept would be fine - i'd love to be able to pick someone up in a Final Fight type game, throw them through a shop window, then walk in after them and beat them down further with a can of baked beans knocked from a shelf - but if the game doesn't look or feel like the original it's just a cash in.

It's doubly annoying as a suped up version of Golden Axe with online co-op would be great fun. Bah humbug!

if you heard what zero punctuation says about duke nukem forever living up to the hype then match that for me and golden axe

i think i must have spent the 5th to 8th year of my life bashing goblins with my axe

and im still better than my dad!

pfft all the men in pants with swords action :(

road rash is where the action would be at :)

as said above a modern 3d version would be great fun,

even something like a TDU environment with lots of openplay and of course lots of violence,

would love that,

WHY OH WHY EA

i mean ffs you remake everything else to death how about one that we really want

My Experiences of old remakes are a mixed barrel, not really sure on what to think about it to be honest. I'll do as i always do and thats rent or demo before i buy.

This thread is confusing me, are we talking about the Golden Axe on Xbox Live that was out over a year ago and is a port of the arcade game? Coz that version features the Dwarf, and co-op play.

Or is there a completely new game coming out which just uses the Golden Axe IP and is nowt to do with the 80s arcade game?
