If both could be obtained for the same price, which would you choose? how much difference is the temperatures between these cards?

thanks all

What size screen/res do you run?

If it's 1680 or below go for the GTS.

If it's 1920 or higher go for the GTX.

No, it won't outperform it. But the GTS wouldn't be as good with the higher. Basically what he meant was, if your res is 1680 or lower then the GTX would be overkill and thus a waste of money :)

Kinda.

At lower res the mem bandwith of the GTX is overkill and isn't really needed and the higher clocked core and shaders makes the GTS a better choice of card.

At higher res the GTS's lack of mem bandy bottlenecks any performance gains the higher speed core/shaders give and the GTX will outperform it especially with AA enabled.

both for me can be had for the same cash as my mate is selling me a sealed bfg oc 8800gtx for £150

if they are the same price surely the gtx is the best option, giving you a bit more future proof should you move to a higher res

gtx performs better in high rez there was a tread somewere and benchmarks that gts get better fps then gtx in rez 1680 or below
