I have a window vista machine which is

QX6700 quad core @ 3.2
4GB Ram
8800GTX
2 x Raptors RAID 0
24" Dell monitor

Now I dont really play games now and do more films/music/pictures so was thinking of getting the 24" iMac 2.8 CD2 witha 2600 Pro. I want to boot into vista via bootcamp to play BF2 ;)

I have a mac book pro CD2 so know my way round a mac but want to know will I drop a lot of performance over my vista PC and would it be better going up to the 3.0 CD2 8800GS iMac.

I would say look at the performance difference between the 2600Pro and the 8800 card, I would have though both those cards would be more than capable of running BF2. I would also upgrade to 4GB on iMac, there is hardly much difference between the CPU's in the two different models though.

Dont really know much about the 8800GS but I'm guessing it will play most windows game ok though.

Should be fine for games with the 8800GS, plus will have a greater longetivity.

Good move on the upgrade. ;) For what you want it for, you have made the right choice.

Im in an identical position to OP.

I have a Q6600, 2GB RAM, 8800GT.

Machine runs vista/hackintosh atm (only doing it to trial mac os before I buy one)

I too am tired of gaming and rarely play anymore, enjoying the outdoors & movies, music etc more.

Should I buy a mac mini or sell the 22inch monitor & everything else to get a imac?

Get an iMac, it's a beautiful piece of hardware. You will notice the speed difference when using photos and movies etc plus if you do want to play the odd game, most models will be able to keep up.

Buy mine, its boxed and sat right next to me...

2.8GHz, 4GB, 750GB & 256MB 2600.

Its an excellent machine. You wont go wrong purchasing one!
