just got home to find a letter from the DVLA telling me that i have failed to tax a car that i scrapped over 6 months ago! it was declared of the road when i first got it! i then scrapped it and sent the yellow slip to the DVLA!

now they are saying unless i can prove this is the case i must pay a fine of £80

i never got anything through the post telling me that i need to tax the car or anything. just this today.

anyone had this before??

wrote them a letter weeks ago. finally got a reply today.

"We will be taking no further action!"

yay :D

I love the way they always try to word it so they are "letting you off" rather than admitting they were wrong in the first place. You gotta love em :D

When you sent of the forms to declare your car as SORN you should have got a letter back a few weeks later telling you that they had received your SORN application. I have delcared a car SORN and i have also informed them that i have scrapped a car, if my memory serves me correctly they are two different forms - then again i declared my car as SORN online but aent the forms by post to scrap it. Anyway in both instances i got a letter saying they had received both forms.

They are useless, this is the second time now I have taken ownership and they have screwed up my name on the V5C , its not hard either (Simon Frost) , but without fail it always comes back as SIMON FORST. Grrr.

yeah when I got my car it came back as Gary M'Rae.. instead of McRae.. i mean M'rae who has ever even seen that last name?
