why stop at the 2.5 you might aswell go for the 3l

cool vid but what gearbox are you using? Have you used a box from the 1*2 or a valver one?
The circlips in the valvers could either last forever once you replaced it or come out the next day, so unpredictable. Welding doesn't work as you've found out.. some bloke was bolting them in on the valver forum which seemed to work.

How come you're not using an RS box? There's not much to do to make it fit and it's a much better box than the valver one. I'm not surprised you are popping the circlips with 182bhp on that box
Not sure why the welding doesn't work but it just doesn't, i'll look for the pic where it's bolted in but it looked like quite good engineering, best just getting the willy or RS box (or have like 3 spare valver ones)

172 boxes don't come up for sale often and they tend to be expensive 
there's also the issue of mounting it, ideally u need to use the 1*2 battery tray, but I can't cause I have ABS

Yeah I guess the expense could be a problem, but I bet it would save you money on boxes in the long run.
Is it the Bendix ABS you have? I thought they were known as 'widow makers'
How much of the loom did you have to chop up? I'd have loved to have done that on mine but just didn't have the time so stuck a meg b/e engine in.
only put a few of the mk1 connectors onto the mk2 loom, engine oil pressure gauge (and level and temp), CTS, Alternator...
I have bosch ABS, and its amazing, doesnt cut in early like everyone elses does. my 2nd 16v has no ABS and i really miss it (esp on track)
