my local motorfactors sell them for £50 with a 3yr warranty, good cranking amps too.

I'd expect the best battery you would now get for about £50 is an 075, usually around 480-580cca.

I can't remember the exact spec but it was recommended for my old Williams engined clio.

Thats what our suppliers at work have told us too, along with the price of copper brake pipe. Towbars etc have all increased in price recently too.

on my battery theres like 8 caps where the acid is, but one has totally exploded/melted and theres white powder everywhere, but the light is still green and starts up fine will it be ok?

The cranking amps are the important bit.

Having said that, europarts do lion batteries for £35 for a 2.8 engine, so I imaging you could get one as cheap there.

Halfords battery for mine was about £80-90 ish a year ago.
