New Car Ahoy

Really like these aswell after seeing one doing REALLY well against some nippy motors at knockhill. Just seems like a really nice complete package, power, handling and the brakes.

At least its brakes werent binding like the E55 amg that over did it.....

Caught your thread over on CS, nice motor. Always liked the Megane's shape to be honest, it's at least different :p

Been hooning around in a Cooper S all week, and the boost is a refreshing change to my 172 - although I've got a need for more cylinders next ;)

bmh you're only 20 and I've seen you go through about 4 fairly modern cars.. You must have some cash to splash :) Nice upgrade!

Is this the really crap original version or the much improved, pretty damn awesome, R26 version?

If its the former, oh dear, well its your money to waste I suppose.

If its the latter, awesome, nice choice, proper raw hot hatch :)

Why exactly are the early ones considered soooo bad??

All the ones I've driven have been fine, and it's not just the R26 that got good press reviews, the Trophy, original F1 and models with cup suspension were all considered good.

Considering you can pick these up pretty cheap now they are good buys.

I always got the impression that without the Cup suspension alterations etc it's... a bit like a quick Renault Megane, yet with the alterations (Standard on Trophy and R26) it's absolutely awesome.

This one has the cup suspension (cup wheels and the drilled discs, plus the thread on Cliosport says so :) ) so is better than a standard one, but in all honesty the normal non cup suspension one on normal day to day roads is fine imho.

As said its a later cupped 225FF so has the same suspension as the Cup/Trophy/R26, only missing the LSD and -5bhp under the R26 and a remap will sort the -5bhp ;). And i'm not expecting it to hold on if I nail it mid corner so i'll survive without the LSD too. Haven't driven a non cupped one as I never even thought of considering one but this handles bloody well.

Nicely specced too, with xenons and climate, a remap surely will see more than 5BHP?. Seats in all Renaults bar Recaros always look awkward.

Enjoy it mate, I like these externally a lot, inside is v.v.poor :)

Oh remap will see 260bhp/380nm so way more than just the 5bhp was just an example. The trouble with the recaro trendlines are that they've got far too agressive lumbar support and they give me mega backache, theres nothing wrong with the standard seats way more comfy for me.

Got to disagree on the poor interior I find it quite good as they go, having said that i've had 3x Mk2 Clios before this but still driven/been in plenty of other cars and its far from poor imo. Its a damn sight better than a lot of things avaliable, I don't see the plasticy thing as a major problem really as what modern non prestige-esk car hasn't got the same?

Depends what you want from the seats. My dads 12 year old laguna is really comfy for long journeys but the rover my uncle had at the time the seats where solid and uncomfy. My mates old clio was really comfy compared to my mates corsa of the same age. Same goes for my mates' dads daewoo nubira....solid crappy seats.
