MSI P45 Platinum & e8500

If your running old ballistix DDR 667 ram with D9 chips you should have no problem running DDR 1066 CL5. I have 3 sets of 10th anni ballistix DDR 667 and all of them manage DDR 1200+ when set to CL5. They will overclock better than some "dedicated" 1066 memory.

Yes that is what I am running it runs over 1100 on my P35 board but won't go above 900 on this.

Ill be testing new bios tomorrow. I understand there may be problems with the memory stability and i am sure a new bios will be out to sort this soon ;)

The beta bios is in the link. Just gone back to my MSI P35 Neo2 and that does 520 FSB with an E8400 and 465FSB with a QX9650. Been priming for a bit with ram at 1050 and its fine with the P45 board blue screens above 900mhz. Tried the gtl settings but no joy.

what bios settings are you using for this as i am having trouble getting over 425 on air with acceptable temps and a 8400

Any updates?

hi mate.

Ok i am testing settings to get 500FSB stable with e8500 @ x8 multi giving 4ghz and 1000mhz on the memory. This is ideal for most users.

I am using latest beta bios Here

Ill get screen shots up with bios settings in a bit. I must add this bios is a MASSIVE improvement over the samples i have had previous. 500FSB is easy with this bios :p

500FSB "Bios images Attached"
Please note this is using latest Beta Bios v25.0b13.

I have been asked via email by a few members to supply bios settings showing 500fsb. Of course this isn't the same on every setup however its easy achievable.

Nice one Dave. :)

Looks like a pretty decent moterhboard.

I totally disagree at present! 4qman is using v1.0 of this board which is a review sample. I have traced several reviews over the web and users on MSI forums and not 1 person as yet has had any success getting past 450FSB and I am using the same ram and E8400 they all are using the retail v1.1. I know of 3 instances of getting 500FSB+ and guess what they all are using v1.0 basically as it stands this board is a total waste of money for an enthusiast. My £65 P35 board beats it out of site! I wil NEVER buy MSI again after this.

As 4qman says above my problems with the board are down to something else as a Asus P5Q pro also has the same isues for me.

New bios has cleared up a lot of issues and 4qman has been a great help and he does have v1.1 as well! If only I had some hair left :)
