I've got an Audi (well 2 actually) so that means my car has just won Le Mans. Must be honest mind, it doesn't look much like mine but its the same thing because Audi's marketing team will spend the next 12 months telling me that so it MUST be true. :)

Congrats to the #2 Audi of Kristensen, McNish and Capello who win the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Tried staying up for the whole 24 hours but failed :(

Hoping to be there next year though :)

Seems like it was a great race this year, though it fails to captivate me like the old Group C days and those oily smelly lard muching things should be banned. I want fire spitting turbo's, massive V8's or high pitched screaming V10's and V12's, I don't want cars you have to wear gloves to fill up with lard and who sound like a wasp in a space suit!

I expected the Peugeot's to run away and hide after the blistering times they set in practice and qualifying.

Audi proved that a 24 hour race is more about reliability than out right speed.

Truly superb race, I really have to get out there one of these years.

On the subject of the smelly diesels, I do find it highly comical that, despite all the disparaging remarks about diesels and performance cars, they're currently proving so successful in both endurance and touring car racing that the regulators are manically looking for ways to knobble them.

Yea the Audi did win again but more importantly so did the Aston Martin in GT1 :)

Was a really good race this year all round! :)

What god awful coverage though. Worse than ITV with the F1.

Adverts between 4 and 9 minutes apart? Admittadly only 1 advert per break, but add all the sponsored by guff and it was ridiculous.

Well done to the Audi guys. Not what I was expecting at all.

Because they have way more HP and Torque than there Petrol counterparts, specialy in sportscar racing, the regulations are so lop sided in the Diesels favor.

And congrats to Aston Martin on beating them 1950's technology tractors in GT1 again aswell:D

And i also hope Richard Lietz, gets a right bollocking from Porsche, as a factory driver he should not have been trying stupid passing moved like that at Indianapolis and taking the 2 best Porsche's out of the GT2 fight:mad:

I edited it - I've avoided Eurosport and Pistonheads - I thought OcUK was safe.

It's the biggest motor race in the world, your not safe from it anywhere that has Motors in the name.

Well, to be honest....that was a tad silly ;)

And if it comes down to it - so what if you know the result? I've never found knowing how they all finish to be a problem that affects my enjoyment of watching a motor race. Christ, I went years knowing the result of every NASCAR race at least three weeks before I actually saw the race in question, and still enjoyed watching every single one*. It's only the last couple of years that I've been able to see more than one race live every year....

***edit***

* - Except races from Fontana.

There have been no threads leading up to the damn race - DAMN YOU STEVE! For that I'll have to drop your car from VMAX video - It only under steered anyways :p

Yes they let the rules be laps for the dirty diesels to try and encourage them, don't think anyone could have foreseen this tho. Double the torque basically, but way more HP, around the same no?

Sounds like will be the opposite next year tho to try and bring the petrols back and even the score again, which im glad about, the noise of racing is one of the better bits especially if your actually there and these diesles are just boring.

Think they are still planning the 'coupes only' rule as well? So could be quite a shake up in the rules coming up. If that is the case surly means already time for a new Audi. A sexy coupe, petrol one?

As for coverage, Eurosport had pretty much wall-to-wall coverage and, for those without this, you could get the US Speed channel via the TVU player who were also covering it. Used that at work for the last few hours today.

600-650HP for the Petrol LMP1 cars
700-750HP for the Diesel LMP1 cars

The coupes only rule has been dropped, but a little birdie told me this may well have been the farewell Le Mans for the R10, as on pure pace alone the R10 just cannot even get close to the 908.

Come on, it's not exactly beyond the wit of man to realise that a thread called 'Le Mans Race' posted AFTER the end of the race might, perhaps, just, maybe... contain the result?

Was it called that to begin with? Dangerous edited the title, I don't remember if it had a spoiler there or just in the actual post itself.
