I thought with my new build I'd go for a nice slick Lian Li case, so I'd gotten a PC-7.

Seems the looks are the only good thing about this case. I can not stop the damn panels rattling, I've seen people using blutac to actually stick them down, but this doesn't work for me as I'm constantly removing the panels to fiddle. On top of this, I'm fairy sure the front fascia that you can pull of is also vibrating slightly.
It seems the build quality of these cases isn't as good as they claim :(

All in all, I've got a nice low hum coming from the case vibrating, punctuated with the louder rattling as it all resonates together. This is bearable when using the computer in the day time, but at night I just have to switch it off rather than leave it ticking along doing something else.

Any suggestions on what I can do? I'm seriously considering getting a different case but at the moment I'm pretty skint and can't find anyone silly enough to buy the case from me :(

the current set of antec cases are very good, try a 300 i you like the simpler look. cheap too. (30-40 £)

other wise, do you have a glue gun, or some sealant, could put a very small thin layer of that on the panels so it's like a soft rubber gasket?

or maybe put some gaffa tape or similar on the inside parts (few layers think if you can) so the metal doesn't touch/makes it a tighter fit.

Nothing wrong with blutacking it, I'm in my eclipse every other week and it just stays on the side panel when I remove/reattach it.

So you pay all this money for a case, and you need to use blue-tac to stop the panels from rattling?

Sounds like a great case! Never had problems with NZXT or ANtect cases, maybe look into getting a new case and selling yours on?

I've lined the edged with electrical tape and thats worked a treat for me. But id expect this case to be a bit quieter judging by the amount you've paid for it. Id RMA the thing

My Lian-Li vibrates sometimes also. Quite disappointing, especially when they seem to be held in such high regard. Not all that impressed with mine really. It's well built (aside from the rattling side panels of course), but the cooling is abysmal.

Stopped recommending Lian-Li PC-7 after bought one (PC-7S though) had it for a couple of weeks then the rattling started  Did my head in but found if I clean it regularly the noise stops.

Thinking of trying rubber mounts/washers on the fans, ODD & HD see if it helps, i.e. don't have to clean regularly :)

I bluetac'd my mirage sides which helped a little but with 3 HDD's in the lower chamber it still made the whole case vibrate. Its been replaced with a P182 now which has anti vibration strips down the sides of the case to stop vibrations - seems to be working well :)

if its anythng like my g50 I just bent the little metal bars (top and bottom) a little to tighten up the 'fit'.

Problem is hard mounted vibrating rollers called as HDDs.

most other case manufactures, heck even the people that makes dells cases, don't have troubble with this though.

I never got what was so special about lain li's they just have aluminum instead of steel - not too much difference, and have that brushed look, hardly any fans etc though.

Aluminum is lighter and better for cooling :)

Why don't you send the case back and get a different li lian my v1000 has never made a sound :D

I'd go with the first suggestion of antecs.

Sell your case and pick up a 300 or a P182 (will cost extra). My P182 doesn't make a sound to be honest!

this whole thread is making me change my mind about getting a lian li pc7, will keep current case.

i cant see how cooling is so good on the p182. the door doesnt let any air through (does it?) and i cant see any reviews of it (im doing work experience) right now

There are lots of reviews for the P182 - just google "antec p182". The P182 has vents on the side of the door and a large gap at the bottom. I dont notice any difference in temperature with the door open or closed (my old akasa mirage would heat up like hell with the door closed though!).

Can I really RMA it based on it rattling though? I've only had it for 6 weeks but I'm ready to throw it from the top floor :(

Was thinking about trying to bend the clips to ensure a snugger fit, until I found something is still rattling/vibrating despite having taken all of the panels off. Too many of the case innards move! I found part of the noise was coming from the 2*3.5 bay vibrating against the 4*5.25 bays above it >_<

I'll have a proper fiddle tomorrow and see if I can fix something up, if not then I'll have a look at some of the suggestions here, ta guys :)

e: Just had a browse, would have gone for the Antec 300 if it was out at the time of me buying my rig! Just my luck :p

sell it:)
for silence, must be a solid case of good cold rolled stell of 0.8 / 1 mm thickness

they are heavy, but dont have the problem of ressonance:)

Mh, I have an old ThermalTake Soprano sitting in the corner of my room. Cheap plastic look to the front but the rest of the case is solid, good sturdy build. May end up putting everything in that for the time being!

the amount of heat dispersed through the case skin is tiny in comparison to what is done through the fans/air, and the thermal difference between aluminum and steel for that is going to be almost unnoticeable.

As for weight it's not really an issue unless you build you're case out of lead.

Whilst it's by no means a cheap-as-chips case you've got to remember this is their bottom of the range case and therefore there's bound to have been comprises made
