Turkey in europe?

Turkey and part of Russia are in Europe, don't know why you think they're not :confused:. The EU doesn't define who is in Europe and who isn't, Switzerland and Norway aren't in it for a start.
 
They are part of Europe, they are just also part of Asia.

EU membership isn't a prerequisite, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland aren't EU members either.

If you want to find a team that really shouldn't be in the qualifiers for it, what about Israel?
 
The European Championship has the same entry regulations as Eurovision, not the European Union.

The EU has nothing to do with it. Lichtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are also non-EU. It's the European championship not the EU championship.

Turkey straddles Asia and Europe and Russia forms the bulk of Eurasia (I think west of the Ural mountains is generally classed as being European with the remainder to the East being Asia)
 
i was wondering about Iran too! there war technique going down but there football going up hehe

i thought if u were in Europe you were part of the EU?

Don't some of the Asian groups only have the top team enter, and playoffs against winners from other area's to qualify for the world cup? Also, by qualifying for the Euro group, they can enter the European qualifiers, Asian countries get Asia cup, which is highly likely to be no where near the same profitability as drawing a televised game in Euro qualifiers, or the World Cup qualifiers so overall far far better off going in the Euro group.

Money from a 70k sell out game against Italy, tv and tickets, vs money from playing against Pakistan to a 4000 crowd thats not televised, difficult choice :p

Turkey shouldn't be allowed in Europe. It should be decided by how much of your country sits in each continent. Kick em out. They don't deserve European football :)
