It has been documented several times, and if you were a reader of http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/ you would know this. He directly compared 3 of his reviews. One of them was almost identical and they had just changed the model numbers. Shocking imo

Well i dont have the Samsung equivalent to the Px80 so i wouldnt know if its better or worse. Like i said i can only go on the tvs ive experienced and read about. Yes i compared both the panasonic and the samsung in the flesh and the usual forums/reviews etc. I found the Samsung better you're just going to have to get over it. I have no issue with some specific sets being better than others e.g. Kuros but just posting crap like

Nobody other that you has caused the current state of the thread I'm afraid. All other posters in this thread have been calm, reasoned and have a fair bit of expereince and would certainly not post anthing like 'Samsung r awful bai....'. If they did believe that a Samsung set did have a particular issue then they would put it out in a reasoned mannor, and certainly not to casue upset and flaming.

No its not...PX80 is a newer gen than the samsung i'm talking about. You would know this if you were reading the thread. I'm talking about specific tv sets dunno what you're talking about...

We are going around and around in circles here, very funny, but if I remember correctly this thread was going ok until you were helpful in describing your recommendations from a technical viewpoint:
Samsungs are not horrific, but amongst other tv brands they are more form over function, and may look shiny and pretty, but have some awful problems and quality control seems very patchy. Also one thing to note, they don;t actually have a UK technical department, and any problems needing an engineer to be sent out involves a 3rd party company to come around and say 'yup it's broken'.
On another note, i think the Op has been scared off by us and will be more confused than ever
I'm still at a loss as to why you would reccomend a clearly worse Tv, which is not Samsung's newest model. The PX80 cannot be beaten at it's price point and is only really beaten substantially by the Kuros.

Your set has been superseeded by better, cheaper panels. I just found a review for your set (albeit the 50" Model) from May of last year

No-one is attacking your TV set. It is a very good TV by all accounts.

Like i said (and guess ill have to say it again for your benefit :/ ) my main beef was with what looked like to me was usual fanboi comments in the thread implying vast superiority of panasonic over samsung and that samsung were rubbish. I mean this isnt the console forum no need to flame another user just because he recommends something you dont like.

And you appear to be basing yours on the single experience of your good set.
I've got a Sammy LCD in my bedroom; the picture is ok and I've not had any issues with the build. I've got a Kuro in the living room which is generally acknowledged as the best 42" available. I'm fairly agnostic about these other manufacturers.
Consequently I can only pass on the feedback I've been given by other owners and the general concensus is a greater failure / issue rate with Samsung than the other major manufacturers.
I'm glad yours is OK and I'm sure you are happy with it.
Panasonic sets are indeed fine value but Mr Dean thought to stick the boot into Samsung.. **** n giggles and all that..

To be honest at times this forum is much like the console forum with regard to HDTVS. (pioneer, panasonic, samsung). Just head into a thread about buying a ps3 to get what i mean...

My point is to reccomend the best panel for the least amount of money. This would mean collecting my personal expereinces, and posting professional reviews and finding out what the op is looking for.
I would not enter the thread, as you did, and write a one word answer: "Samsung". Which model? What are the advantages disadvantes? Pro reviews on that model? Have you viewed the set? How much it it etc etc etc.....
As stated, I am not a Fanboi, and in reality, by you simply posting 'samsung' which no explanation of mdel, range, price, Pro's & con's etc etc - it appears you are, and defend that ignorance by throwing the charge at others in the hope it will stick.
I am not 'flaming' you mate. I have no interest in targetting specific users for the likes or dislikes, but I do know a little bit about Plasmas, LCD's and a lot of the confusion surrounding HDTV tech. I have learnt a lot of it here from -Ad-, [DOD]Asprilla and other users as well as hdtvforums.
